Lily may be set to play Cinderella, but in her role as Elizabeth Bennet she is a different kind of heroine. Entertainment Weekly reports that the sisters are no longer just single ladies, but actually ninjas who are knife wielding — but of course they are still wearing their corsets!

The upcoming film it being directed by Burr Steers who is adapting the screenplay from Seth Grahame-Smith‘s book, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. According to the site, David O. Russell had also created a draft from the book and was attached to the project.

Burr revealed, “The first thing I did was reinsert all the Pride and Prejudice beats,” he dished to the site. He also reportedly increased the roles of Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley) and Mr. Wickham (Jack Huston).

Lily opened up about her character, Elizabeth, who is fighting a zombie apocalypse that has been going on for 70 years. “Even in the original story, Elizabeth’s a fighter and beyond her contemporaries in her ambitions and her ideas of women,” she says. “She’s a badass warrior. She’s a ninja.”

According to the site, filming began in September, and while it has not been given a release date, it is expected out in 2015. We can’t wait to see how this plays out — and how the iconic love story is interpreted!
