The new movie takes place in 2029, when John Connor (Jason Clarke) once again sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to save Connor’s mother. While that storyline obviously sounds familiar, the rebooted version features a more hardened Sarah Connor, who has taken on a more badass personality after being raised by Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s T-8000, according to Entertainment Weekly. (Yes, he will be back.)
“Since she was 9 years old, [Sarah] has been told everything that was supposed to happen,” producer David Ellison said. “But Sarah fundamentally rejects that destiny. She says, ‘That’s not what I want to do.’ It’s her decision that drives the story in a very different direction.”
Not only are we so ecstatic about this new photo, but we’re super thrilled to hear Arnold will be in this rebooted version of Terminator. (Click here to see the second exclusive EW cover.)
