Antonio Sabato Jr Eliminated From ‘Dancing With The Stars’ — ‘DWTS’ Week 7 Recap
Tommy Chong and Peta Murgatroyd were up first and they danced the Quickstep. “You’re very easy on the eyes. You’re very watchable,” Len said. “Tommy, you did it again! Those kicks — that’s hard! You were light on your feet! Well done,” said judge Julianne Hough. Carrie Ann Inaba said she thought it was one of his best routines so far. They got a 28!
Lea Thompson and Artem Chigvintsev danced the Argentine Tango. “I think you guys really need to give yourself a break. You try really, really hard…don’t forget the fun of it,” Julianne said. “Efficient. Accurate. Well-placed. And just the right touch of evil. I like the attitude,” Bruno Tonioli raved. Len said it was clean and precise, but lacked chemistry. They got a 34!
Next, Bethany Mota and Derek Hough danced the Paso Doble. “You two were the embodiment of the flames of passion. Absolutely fantastic,” Bruno purred. “Bethany, you are fascinating. So intense, every movement was perfect. Flawless!” Carrie Ann said. Julianne said they nailed it. They got a 39!
Antonio Sabato Jr. and pro Cheryl Burke danced the Viennese Waltz to “I Put A Spell On You” after landing at the bottom of the leaderboard last week. “I don’t think the spell worked,” Carrie Ann said. “I’m so frustrated with you. You’ve grown so much but as a whole performance, it never feels smooth. I feel uncomfortable watching you.” Len called it hectic. Julianne said it was an off week. They got a 27!
Michael Waltrip and Emma Slater danced Jive. “I am surprised you’ve made it to week 7. In driving terms, you’re running on empty,” Len said. “In the theme of Halloween, that was kind of a nightmare,” Julianne said. “Michael, I love a country fair but there wasn’t any jive. I think you’ve broken the record of being off time. You have to be on time, all the time,” Bruno said. “This was a great freestyle but it was supposed to be a jive,” Carrie Ann said. They got a 20 out of 40.
Next, Janel Parrish and Val Chmerkovskiy danced the Viennese Waltz to the Pretty Little Liars theme song. Julianne said it wasn’t a “proper” Viennese Waltz. “Look at you, dressed to kill!” Bruno said, but added that she needs to continue her lines. Carrie Ann said: “I’m going to disagree with both of you. I thought something you did so well was your fluidity of motion.” They got a 31.
More Halloween-Themed Dances
Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson danced the Rumba. “Captivating. Involved. Convincing. Full of content. Beautiful,” Bruno raved. Carrie Ann said she was so impressed. “It was a proper rumba! That’s what I want to see,” Len said, while delivering a few digs to the previous dances. They got a 36! Alfonso gave a shout-out to his son, who turned 1 today, and announced that his wife is pregnant again! Congrats!
Sadie Robertson and Mark Ballas danced the Paso Doble to a standing ovation! “The theme of the whole thing got in the way of the dance for me. You’ve all lost the reason for the competition,” Len said. Julianne said Mark has “never looked better” — he was dressed as a zombie. Ouch. They got a 30.
Next up, the two team freestyles.
Bethany & Derek lead the team “Itsy Bitsy” with Lea & Artem, Michael & Emma, and Janel & Val. “You danced it beautifully, well done,” Len said. “You killed that number!” Bruno screamed. Carrie Ann praised Michael, who thought he would bring down the team. They got a 36! Then, they were all named safe!
Alfonso & Witney lead “Team Creepy” with Sadie & Mark, Antonio & Cheryl, and Tommy & Peta. “You guy look amazing. Individually, you guys really stood out — Alfonso and Witney, but as a group, you were a bit out of sync,” Julianne said. Bruno praised the energy and fun. Carrie Ann said she loved the concept and liked watching this dance better than Derek’s. Len said “each personality came out during this dance.” They got a 32!
At the end of the night, Antonio & Cheryl were sent home. I’m pretty upset Michael in still in the competition, personally.
