Chrissy Teigen, 28, was once a fan favorite on Twitter for her constant commentary on everything from pop culture to food. Chrissy Teigen Quits Twitter After Controversial Tweet
Chrissy’s wit is usually appreciated on her Twitter account, but this time, the public wasn’t too impressed.
So, here’s how it all started. A shooting took place in downtown Ottawa when gunman Michael Zehaf-Bibeau shot and killed Corporal Nathan Cirillo before opening fire in Parliament.
Chrissy responded by tweeting, “Active shooting in Canada, or as we call it in America, wednesday,” and followed up with, “That’s not a joke. It is a fact.”
Fact or not, people were not happy about the tweet, and the negative reactions and death threats came almost immediately.
She attempted to explain herself by tweeting: “Sorry you don’t understand that is a knock at america and our issues with gun control. No one is minimizing the Ottawa shooting,” However, it wasn’t enough to stop the angry backlash.
Coincidentally, this uproar took place just two days before the Marysville-Pilchuck High School shooting in Washington state.

This Twitter backlash on Chrissy will probably be remembered as one of the most brutal ever. One follower said, “Don’t let the door hit you in your undernourished butt on your way out of United States!” Another tweeted, “I hope someone murders some you love, like your fa***t husband.”
After sharing a slew of the inappropriate tweets on her own account, she decided that she had finally had enough of Twitter. Her final tweet read “I feel sick. Bye Twitter. Taking my talents to instagram.”
