Fresh on the heels of TLC’s cancellation of ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,’ Mama June is speaking out once again against claims that she is dating a convicted child molester. Watch her video.
After TMZ released a photo allegedly of June Shannon (aka Mama June) with her convicted child molester ex-boyfriend, Mark McDaniel, TLC dropped the hammer and canceled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo ahead of its fifth season. In a new video, Mama June continues to deny reports that she is still seeing Mark and insists that the pic was Photoshopped and that she would never put her kids in danger. Watch her tell her side of the story below.
Mama June’s Statement On Cancelation: Says Sex Offender Claims ‘Totally Untrue’
“This a truth video and answering some of ya’ll questions over the last few months since we have had to stay quiet and hope this helps and a appreciation video to all our awesome fans over yrs,” she captioned the Facebook video.
“Just got a phone call this morning from TLC, and as of right now there will be no more production of the show,” June admits.
“The statement of me dating a sex offender is totally untrue. Pumpkin has openly said that I am not dating him and also his son.” Indeed, it was Pumpkin (aka Lauryn Shannon), 14, who initially denied the photo and claimed it was the work of Photoshop.
“I would not ever put my kids in danger. I love my kids too much. That is is my past. I have not seen that person in 10 years and don’t seem to want to see that person.”
Despite the show being canceled, June insists that she will continue to update her fans on the comings and goings of the Thompson/Shannon family; after all, she says that the whole family loves their fans dearly and that the experience has been “awesome”; her “girls have been able to do things that they would not have normally been able to do” thanks to Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
Mama June: ‘Me And Sugar [Bear] Really Have Broken Up’
Mama June also addresses her split from Sugar Bear (aka Mike Thompson), telling her 1 million plus Facebook followers: “Me and Sugar really have broke up, but we are friends and we have stayed civil. We are better off friends than we were a couple. We actually came to notice that.
“Things happen for a reason in life. You live and learn. The fan page has stayed quiet for a while because TLC has kind of told us to hush hush.” (We don’t blame them — but we have wonder what TLC thinks about June’s video!)
“But that is pretty much what is going on. We will update later on. We wanted to let you know from the bottom of our hearts that we actually love ya’ll.”
In her video, Mama June sounds disappointed, but resigned and somehow grateful.
It’s hard to believe that any mother would knowingly put her children in danger like this (despite the fact that it happens all the itme), but barring any hard evidence, it’s hard to make a solid conclusion. However, there’s no arguing that TLC came out on the right side of the scandal — they really had no choice other than to cancel the show.
HollywoodLifers, what do you think about June’s statement? Did TLC make the right choice in canceling Honey Boo Boo? Let us know.
