So sad. On Oct. 23, NYC doctor, Dr. Craig Spencer tested positive for Ebola. Dr. Craig returned from Guinea on Oct. 17, and before he began to feel symptoms, he reportedly visited Gutter Bowling Alley, rode in a Uber taxi and visited the High Line.
Such devastating news. Doctors Without Borders physician, Dr. Craig Spencer, 33 — who returned to NYC on Oct. 17, after bravely treating Ebola patients in Guinea — was rushed from his Harlem home on Oct. 23, to Bellevue Hospital where he is reportedly being kept in isolation. Before he began to feel symptoms, Dr. Craig rode the A and the L subway lines as well as visited Gutter Bowling Alley in Brooklyn.
Dr. Craig Spencer Ebola — NYC Doctor Tests Positive
Dr. Craig returned from Guinea on Oct. 17, and after showing symptoms and having a reported 103 degree fever, he was rushed to Bellevue Hospital on Oct. 23.
Witness Oscar Nunez told the New York Post, “Clad in hazmat suits, FDNY hazardous materials specialists sealed off his fifth-floor apartment around noon. Cops blocked off West 147th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam after he was taken to the hospital.”
Mark Levin, who represents the neighborhood released a statement saying, “I want to assure everyone in Northern Manhattan that City, State and Federal public health authorities are responding with the highest possible level of urgency and marshaling every resource at their disposal to respond to this possible case.”
According to the site, Dr. Craig notified Doctors Without Borders. The organization released a statement on Oct. 23, according to the site. “As per the specific guidelines that Doctors Without Borders provides its staff on their return from Ebola assignments, the individual engaged in regular health monitoring and reported this development immediately.”
CNN reports that New York City’s health commissioner, Dr. Mary Travis Bassett said, “At the time that the doctor was on the subway, he did not have fever … he was not symptomatic,” she said. Dr. Many also said that chances of anyone contracting the virus from contact with Dr. Craig are “close to nil.”
The site reports that Dr. Craig’s fiancée as well as two friends are also being placed on quarantine and are being monitored.
Mark Zuckerberg Donates $25 Million To Fight Ebola
Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan announced on Oct. 14, that they will be making a $25 million donation to help fight the deadly virus.
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Mark wrote on Facebook, “We need to get Ebola under control in the near term so that it doesn’t spread further and become a long term global health crisis that we end up fighting for decades at large scale, like HIV or polio.”
He continued, “We believe our grant is the quickest way to empower the CDC and the experts in this field to prevent this outcome.”
