Scooter Braun On Justin Bieber: The Biebs Is Learning From His ‘Mistakes’ — Watch
Scooter, 33, is the original Belieber. Ever since he discovered Justin, 20, on YouTube, Scooter has not only been Justin’s manager, but his unofficial big brother.
Having watched the Canadian singer mature from a teenage heartthrob into a sometimes bad boy, Scooter admits that Justin has definitely gone through a “stupid” period but that’s to be expected. “He’s a kid,” Scooter says in an interview with Bloomberg’s Emily Chang.
Scooter also reflects on Justin’s recent antics:
“I joked with him the other day, I said, ‘You were on the back nine of stupid.’ And he goes, ‘What does that mean?’ I said, ‘The front nine of stupid was tough for me. But I can see now you’re 20. Usually boy stupid lasts ’till about 22 to 24. I think your window might be even shorter. And I think we’re on the back nine of stupid.”
Nevertheless, as Justin’s loyal supporter, Scooter sees the silver lining in the missteps that his client has sometimes made.
“It’s been a rough year for me watching him because I really care about him. And you don’t wanna see anyone going through stuff. But to see him coming out on the other end of that right now and knowing the plans for next year and the fact that, you know, he’s a kid.
“I’ve had to learn that it’s okay for him to step on that rake and let it hit him in the face. And he’s learned from those mistakes. And he’ll be a better man for it.”
Scooter Braun Speaks Honestly About Justin Bieber
Scooter also says that he is “proud” of Justin, despite the many rough patches he has hit throughout 2014, ranging from his fist fight with Orlando Bloom, 37, over the summer, to getting in trouble with the law.
As for when Justin will become the young man that Scooter envisions, well, he believes that he’s well on his way.
