Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’: Behind The Scenes Of The Music Video — Watch
My original idea for the video was to just have an empty ballroom and have a couple walk into the room and start mad ballroom dancing. And then, as the idea kind of formed, I thought I’d get two talented dancers to do it, and then I thought, ‘Maybe I should have a crack at it. If rugby players can do it on Strictly Come Dancing, maybe I could do it.”
Indeed he could! While his partner was obviously doing most of the work, as many commenters have pointed out, there’s no doubt that Ed definitely holds his own. He makes all the lifts and spins look so natural, smooth and effortless.
In the behind-the-scenes look, we’re able to watch the video as it’s being filmed. Without the high gloss of the finished product, you can still tell that Ed is doing an amazing job. (We’re experts at watching non-experts dance; trust.)
Ed Sheeran: ‘I’ve Never Wanted To Quit Something So Much’
“It really surprised me how much I enjoyed it. When you get the hang of it, dancing is the most fun thing in the world when you know what to do,” Ed says in the clip.
Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. As Ed’s beautiful dance partner revealed during a break in rehearsals, they hit heads a lot. This is where we get plenty of shots of Ed looking sweaty and annoyed.
“But in the lead-up to it,” Ed continues, “it was the most frustrating thing. Like, I’ve never wanted to quit something so much. There were points dancing where I was like, ‘Nah. You guys do the video. I’m just going to stand in the background.'”
Same, Ed. Same. Like, all the time. In all situations.
Anyway, it clearly worked out for the best in the end! What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Did you like Ed’s video for “Thinking Out Loud?” Are you into watching Ed work it behind the scenes? Let us know!
