Taylor Swift is setting the record straight! In a new interview, the beautiful singer revealed that those who believe that she writes her hit songs — including ‘Out Of The Woods’ which is rumored to be about Harry Styles — about past boyfriends are, ‘purely speculating.’
Taylor Swift, 24, definitely knows how to express her feelings! In a brand new interview with 2DayFm, the singer said, ”I have a really strict personal policy that I never name names” — despite her 2010 hit, “Dear John” which is rumored to be about her ex-boyfriend, John Mayer, 37!
Taylor Swift’s Exes — Insists She ‘Never Name Names’
Taylor certainly knows how to stick up for herself. While she has several songs that are rumored to be about her famous exes, including her hit, “I Knew You Were Trouble” about Jake Gyllenhaal, 33, the singer insists that she doesn’t name names.
She told the Sydney, Australia based radio show,”I have a really strict personal policy that I never name names.” She continued that those who believe that she writes about her exes are “purely speculating.” That’s not all! She said, “And they use you writing songs about your life kind of as a way to play detective.”
While Taylor never confirmed who inspired “Dear John,” her ex seems to believe that the 2010 song is about him. In an interview with Rolling Stone in 2012, the heart-throb opened up about being “humiliated” by her track.
He told the publication, “It made me feel terrible because I didn’t deserve it. I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.”
“I was really caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I’d already been dressed down,” he said. “I mean, how would you feel if, at the lowest you’ve ever been, someone kicked you even lower?”
Why Taylor Swift Writes About Her Exes
Taylor has revealed that she is not looking for love and has not dated since she and Harry Styles broke up, but as HollywoodLife.com previously reported, an insider revealed that Taylor deals with her heart breaks by writing about her past.
“She tries to write these songs to get over them, but it actually extends things and she doesn’t let it die, especially if the song becomes a hit then she is with these guys forever,” our insider dished. “She isn’t over Harry, she isn’t over John, she isn’t over anyone, she keeps holding on to her past and would date all of them again, but it’s not going to happen because all the guys are checked out.”
