The Oct. 15 episode of ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ upped the freaky factor to a whole new level. Elsa’s troupe added two new members and Twisty made a diabolical friend.
It’s only the second episode of American Horror Story: Freak Show and we’re already hooked. On the Oct. 15 episode, Dell (Michael Chiklis) and Desiree (Angela Bassett) made their debut, one of the freaks bit the dust and we saw a new (and terrifying) side to Twisty (John Carroll Lynch).
‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’: Nightmares On Nightmares On Nightmares
Everyone was happy and healthy until the police hit up the premises to inquire about the missing detective. Jimmy (Evan Peters) was scared, to say the least. The cops set a curfew for the town until young girl and boy (who are now in Twisty’s hands) are found. This pretty much screwed Elsa’s (Jessica Lange) business. But fear not!
Over at Hanley’s Toy Shop, one of Mr. Hanley’s associates went into the shop looking for the owner.
And then, we see TWISTY acting as one of the mannequins. (UGH. MORE NIGHTMARES.)
The young man found a toy robot that was leaving a trail of blood. The trail was coming from Mr. Hanley’s decapitated head! Before the young man had a chance to think, Twisty flat-out stabbed him in the neck. (Death count for the episode: 2.)
‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’: Big Fat Baby
Despite the curfew, Elsa was ready to party, but poor Jimmy wasn’t feeling it. He was mulling over killing that awful detective. “I never killed nobody before,” Jimmy told Elsa.
Amazon Eve and Paul the Illustrated Seal helped Jimmy get rid of the body. Above all else, Jimmy just wants to be a normal guy and be capable of going out in the world without being judged. (Unfortunately, that’s not the world you live in, Jimmy.)
Meanwhile, Dandy (Finn Wittrock) was pouting like the biggest man-baby ever to mom Gloria (Frances Conroy). But really, he’s seriously a child. He drinks cognac out of a BABY BOTTLE. He even called girls “smelly cows.” Yep, he’s a toddler.
He was desperate to become a thespian and showcase his talents on stage. In the words of the great Rolling Stones, “You can’t always get what you want.”
‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’: Three Boobs
The freak show better get ready because there’s two newbies in town — Dell and Desiree. Dell may be the strongest man alive, but Desiree is the real star of the show.
She’s a full-blown hermaphrodite. And yes, we’re getting a full view of her THREE BOOBS (and she also has a “ding a ling!”)
Elsa wasn’t really interested because she couldn’t afford them, but Dell pleaded with her to keep them around. She agreed, which is sure to infuriate Ethel, who is Dell’s ex-wife!
Gloria, being the most oblivious mother and person ever, picked up Twisty on the side of the road. (#CrazyMomAlert.)
Dandy returned the freak show to ask for a spot in the lineup. “I’m one of you,” Dandy pleaded. Jimmy turned him away and said he wished he could have a life like Dandy’s. Dandy was NOT happy with that response. He repeatedly banged his head against a steering wheel. While you may be completely nuts, you are still cute, Dandy. Don’t mess up that face!
Dandy returned home to fuel hatred at his mother, but Gloria had a big, scary, nightmare-inducing surprise.
DANDY’S NEW FRIEND IS TWISTY THE CLOWN!
This is best friend we all want and need, right?
Back at the freak show, Ethel went to see Dell, who was a absolute tool to Ethel (Kathy Bates); he even called her Honest Abe! He didn’t even acknowledge Jimmy as his son. To make matters worse between the exes, Elsa put Dell in charge of the show and Ethel is PISSED.
Elsa wanted to see Bette (Sarah Paulson) and Dot’s talents before the night’s show. Bette, who truly believed this was her chance at superstardom, started singing. It wasn’t pretty. Well, there goes that.
Not so fast. Jimmy convinced Dot to take a whack at it with his all-consuming, adorable charm. “Sing to me,” he told her. (Swoon city!) When Dot opened her mouth, it was like magic.
Dell was establishing new order and had scheduled a $3 matinee because of the curfew. Elsa wasn’t pleased with this idea. “This man is going to be a problem,” she told Jimmy. Yep, he sure is.
‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’: Dirty Rotten Killers
Gloria brought Twisty home to Dandy and her son wasn’t the least bit scared. “Amuse me, clown,” Dandy barked. Twisty began looking through Dandy’s toys while Dandy went through Twisty’s. What Dandy found must of been truly horrifying because Twisty knocked him unconscious!
Fortunately, Twisty didn’t kill him, but Dandy was stupid enough to follow him!
Twisty made it home to his house of torture before his captives could escape. In an act of kindness, Twisty brought them a toy. He also thought a decapitated head would be fun to play with, too. The young girl didn’t accept and took her chance to get the hell out of there. When she hit Twisty, we finally got to see what was behind the mask.
It was sheer horror. His mouth looked rotten, he had no lips and had teeth just dangling. What happened to Twisty?
The girl and boy bolted, but Twisty was able to catch the young boy. Dandy found the girl and brought her back to Twisty. “You’re going to have to do a better job of confinement if we are going to have any fun,” Dandy told Twisty.
Something tells me we should be 10x more afraid of Dandy than of Twisty. Just a hunch.
‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’: Another One Bites The Dust
In his desperate attempt at normality, Jimmy brought the crew to the diner. Let’s just say they didn’t have the best of luck. Dell didn’t have a nice reaction to Jimmy’s idea either. He punched the lights out of Jimmy for defying him.
Immediately after his beatdown, Jimmy went to Elsa about Dell. He had to go, Jimmy said. Seriously, he must because he put Elsa’s billing at the bottom of the poster! (Um, no.)
Bette and Dot aka the Siamese Sisters made their debut that night. The guys in the audience went nuts for Dot’s performance. Later that night, Elsa snuck into their room to talk to Bette. The forgotten sister was feeling a little blue after Dot’s amazing act. “You are a star,” Elsa said to Bette. She gave Bette a knife! What the heck does Elsa want Bette to do? It’s not like she can have one without the other.
Unfortunately, the cops returned and took away Meep after Dell planted the dead detective’s badge on him. Poor Meep. Jimmy drank away his sorrows after the show. He knew Meep wouldn’t last a day in prison. “He’s just weird,” Jimmy said earnestly.
Jimmy was right.
When Jimmy left to tell the cops everything, a truckload of guys dumped Meep’s body right in front of him! (R.I.P. Meep.)
