’19 Kids & Counting’: Jill & Derick Get Couples Counseling From Her Parents

Tue, October 14, 2014 10:01pm EDT by Lauren Cox 8 Comments

It’s almost time for the big Duggar wedding! As Jill and Derick prepare to tie the knot, her parents, Michelle and Jim Bob, provide them with weekly counseling sessions. Awkward or fun?

On the Oct. 14 episode of 19 Kids & Counting, Jill Duggar and her fiance, Derick Dillard, are counting down the hours until their wedding day. In preparation of the major changes headed their way, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar are hosting weekly counseling sessions with the almost newlyweds. Meanwhile, Jill’s 18 siblings are starting to realize that she will no longer be living with them. So sad!

’19 Kids & Counting’ Recap: Jill & Derick Get Couples Counseling

Very soon, viewers of 19 Kids are going to be very happy to finally see Jill walk down the aisle to her husband, Derick.

Before that happens, the young couple have a lot of preparing to do — including making sure they are mentally and emotionally read to make a life together. That is exactly why Jill’s parents, Michelle and Jim Bob, are counseling them once a week on different topics.

While some young adults would be mortified to discuss the intimate details about their relationship with their parents, Jill and Derick are more than happy to accept the help and advice her parents have to offer.

During this week’s counseling session they are discussing finances, and as many Duggar fans know they happen to be a very frugal family. With 19 children, they definitely have to be!

As Jim Bob and Michelle grill Derick and Jill with questions about what things are worth spending money on and what to do in a financial emergency, they seem really pleased by all of Derick’s answers. Derick is a hard worker who knows how to save, and was raised in a modest family where they buy used cars instead of new ones.

Even more exciting? Their couples counseling took place in a local frozen yogurt place. Delish!

Jim Bob Buys Jill & Derick Their First Furniture

Next up for Jill and Derick is making sure their temporary home is furnished before they move in after their wedding.

On a previous episode Jim Bob decided that he would fix up a house he purchased not too long ago so that it was livable. However, Jill and Derick will only be able to reside there until the house sells on the market. Fingers crossed they get to spend some time there before that happens!

Making sure that they don’t overspend while buying furniture, Jim Bob brings Jill to an auction house to buy used furniture and electronics for their house. This goes hand-in-hand with the couples counseling session they just had, doesn’t it?

The auction turns out to be a blast, and by the time it’s over Jill and Derick have almost everything they need for their first home together. So sweet!

Now all they have to do is move all of the furniture in, and thankfully Jill has 18 siblings — and Jessa Duggar‘s boyfriend, Ben Seewald — who are more than willing to help out at any time. And they sure did!

Josh & Anna Return Just In Time For Jill’s Wedding

As the hours wind down and Jill and Derick’s wedding gets closer and closer, the Duggar extended family starts to roll in one-by-one. This includes Jill’s brother, Josh Duggar, and his wife Anna. Oh, and of course their adorable three children!

Once Josh is in town, his first mission is to find a “vintage” pick up truck that Jill and Derick can use as their “getaway” car after their wedding ceremony. Isn’t that sweet? Thankfully, Josh knew someone who owned a really nice, sleek black pick up truck — and he loaned it to them for the big day.

While Josh was off searching for a truck, Anna joined the Duggar sisters at Jill’s new home for a decorating party. The girls started adding some personal touches to the place, and as they hang pictures and place other things around the house, it starts to look more and more like a family home.

Jill’s Sisters Are Bummed That She Is Moving Out

It should come as no surprise that Jill’s siblings are pretty upset about the fact that she is moving out.

Even though they were all raised to be happy for others, and they definitely are excited for Jill to marry the love of her life, they have all started to realize that she will no longer be sharing a room with them at the Duggar family home.

Michelle and all of her daughters get together for one last Duggar-girl outing to get their nails done before the wedding. While Michelle is buzzing with excitement for the pampering, the girls are all pretty bummed about the fact that this will be their last outing with Jill before she becomes a married woman.

Believe it or not, Jill is also feeling a bit nostalgic during one of her last outings with her sisters. She admits that she often feels “like, aww” when thinking about her sisters and the fun things they do, but at the same time she can’t help but be completely ecstatic for her wedding day.

Jill and Derick’s wedding special will air on Oct. 28, so make sure you tune in to TLC at 9/8c to participate in the excitement!
