The blind auditions are over and the battle rounds are here! ‘The Voice’ kicked off the next round of this years fierce competition where two singers from each team battled it out for a spot on the show! We have the full recap of who stayed and who got the boot!
Things really started to heat up on The Voice when the battle round began on October 13! The contestants performed and gave it everything that they’ve got, but unfortunately, three singers were forced to leave the show for good. Three contestants, however, got to stay with the show’s stealing option! This is measuring up to be one amazing season!
‘The Voice’ Battle Rounds: The Steals Begin
Team Pharrell – Elyjuh Rene and Maiya Syakes were the first pair who battled against each other. Alicia Keys mentored the talented singers and boy oh boy were they excited when they found out! They sang an Alicia classic, If I Ain’t Got You. The crowd was on their feet at the end of the performance, but sadly, one singer had to get cut. “You did a great job at making this difficult,” Pharrell told them. In the end, he picked Elyjuh to stay!
Team Adam – The legendary Stevie Nicks joined Adam in mentoring his singers for the first round of the battles! “If I were you two, I’d be freaked out singing in front of her,” Adam told his contestants. The pressure was on! Chris Jamison and Jonathan Wyndham went head to head while singing, Young Girls. Both singers were both amazing, however, Adam “went with his gut” and picked Chris!
Team Gwen – The first two singers that battled on team Gwen were Sugar Joans and Jean Kelley. Both were so excited to work with Gwen and her husband Gavin Rossdale! “They are both going to master it,” Gwen said about her contestants during rehearsals! They sang the powerful Destiny’s Child hit, Survivor. Only one could survive and that singer was Sugar!
Just as Jean started to make her goodbye speech, all of the judges pushed their buttons to steal her! Instantly, Jean stole the night and the judges were all praying that she would pick them to be her coach going forward! Jean decided to hop over to team Pharrell for the remainder of the season!
Team Blake – Little Big Town helped Blake to mentor his two first battling contestants, Craig Wayne Boyd and James David Carter. Blake said he only has room for one country singer on his team and that’s why he chose to put those two singers up against each other. They sang Wave On Wave and the audience jammed out to their fun performance! When it came time to choose a singer to keep, Blake chose James!
Just as Craig was exiting the room, Gwen hit her steal button for him! “Thank you for the second opportunity,” an emotional Craig said to his new judge!
Team Gwen – Amanda Peers and Taylor Williams were the second pair to battle it out on team Gwen! The song that they performed was Jolene by Dolly Parton. “Your voices are so beautiful together” Gwen said to them, however, she was nervous about their chemistry on stage. The sang their hearts out and proved that they both deserve a spot on the show. It was a tough decision for Gwen, but she chose Taylor!
Team Pharrel – The second pair of the night to battle on team Pharrell was Griffin and Luke Wade. Maybe I’m Amazed was the song they sang together on stage! They completely blew away the judges and the audience! “One of the greatest battles we have had on the show,” Blake declared. Pharrell ended up choosing Luke!
Blake did not want to see Griffin go, so he used one of his steals — so did Gwen! “You did that to me?” Blake yelled at Gwen! Griffin had a tough decision but he went with Team Blake!
