Things take a turn for the creepy when Pastor Tom and his new parish for the returned stumble upon the remains of nearly a dozen long-dead people in the river. And now it looks the Langston family may have had something to do with the deaths!
Pastor Tom (Mark Hildreth) tries to give the returned a fresh start by baptizing them in the town river, but his kind efforts are thwarted when his followers make a shocking discovery. So how did the corpses end up in the river? We’re looking at you, Margaret Langston (Michelle Fairley)!
‘Resurrection’: Pastor Tom Finds Dead Bodies In The River
We were shocked when we watched Margaret dig up several sculls in her family’s abandoned factory during last week’s episode of Resurrection. Now, those human remains have come back to haunt us, this time turning up in a local river. Maggie (Devin Kelley) comes in to help get to the bottom of this intriguing new mystery, which, unbeknownst to her, has her family at its center.
Returned matriarch Margaret tries to do some damage control on her family, stressing Henry (Kurtwood Smith) and Lucille (Frances Fisher) by insisting that Jacob (Landon Gimenez) go back to school, and then trying to reunite Maggie with her now estranged father, Sheriff Fred (Matt Craven).
Maybe you should be more worried about those dead bodies you just dug up, Margaret! Especially since Maggie told Agent Marty Bellamy (Omar Epps) that she found evidence that the bodies were moved.
What she doesn’t tell Marty, however, is that some of the decades-old corpses look identical to each other, which could mean that they were returnees who came back to life — possibly more than once. It looks like Jacob wasn’t the first returned after all.
‘Resurrection’: Sheriff Fred Covers Up His Mother’s Mistake
But Maggie isn’t the only one who’s unraveling this new mystery. Sheriff Fred finds evidence on the bridge that suggests that the bodies were first buried in the old Langston family factory. He goes to the factory and finds a piece of bone underneath the floor boards that Margaret had ripped up.
Fred’s recently returned mother may not have bothered to cover her tracks, but the sheriff ends up doing it for her — and lying to Maggie about his discovery.
Meanwhile, Marty is desperate to get his body back from the government so he tells them everything he knows about the returned, including the ones who just turned up in the river. Marty gets his corpse back after spilling these details, but was it worth it?
