Sarah Silverman’s uncanny impersonation of the late Joan Rivers was one of the best moments of her Oct. 4 Saturday Night Live hosting gig. The 43-year-old honored her longtime friend with a hilarious heaven skit, which featured Joan roasting Richard Pryor, Benjamin Franklin and more!
In the skit, Joan took her place on the celestial stage. When Sarah stepped into view, she was nearly the spitting image of the late comedy great, who passed away on Sept. 4.
“Heaven, are you serious?!” Sarah (as Joan) said. “Me in heaven?! I guess I should be here, I’m practically a virgin. The last time someone was inside me it was Melissa.”
We should have known. If this was going to be a Joan Rivers skit, it was going to be clever and raunchy, to say the least.
She looked to her old friend Richard Pryor, played by Jay Pharoah, and grilled him big time.
“Richard, you could never keep it in your pants,” Sarah continued. “I dont want to say Richard fooled around but the longest relationship he ever had was with multiple sclerosis.”
Steve Jobs, perfectly portrayed by Kyle Mooney, was also present, along with Ava Gardner (Cecily Strong).
As Joan, Sarah had a ball roasting Benjamin Franklin (Bobby Moynihan). “Where did you get that outfit? Forever 1721?” Sarah asked, paying homage to Joan’s Fashion Police hosting gig.
“Something tells me those bifocals aren’t the only think bi about you,” she continued.
Freddie Mercury, played to a tee by Adam Levine, and Lucille Ball (Kate McKinnon) were also there for the heavenly roast.
“Listen, people,” Sarah concluded. “Comedy is to make us laugh and to deal with things, so open the gates and let me in. Let’s start this show. Thank you. You’re wonderful. Goodnight.”
We’re certain Joan was loving this personal tribute. It was hilarious, inappropriate and everything she would have wanted. We miss you, Joan.
HollywoodLifers, what did you think of Sarah’s impersonation of Joan? Did you enjoy the skit? Let us know!
