On October 2, Teresa and Joe Giudice received their jail sentencing after pleading guilty in March 2014 to 41 counts of fraud. On their way out of the courtroom, the couple walked hand in hand while Teresa broke down in tears.
Despite making an emotional plea to the judge, Teresa Giudice, 42, is heading to jail — along with her husband, Joe Giudice, 42. The mother of four will serve 15 months in jail, while her husband has been sentenced to serve 41 months. Clearly an emotional day, Teresa was photographed leaving the courthouse in tears — see the pic!
Teresa Giudice’s Cries: See Exit From Sentencing — Heading To Prison
Before her sentencing, Teresa was already in tears as she told the judge, “I am more sorry than anyone will ever know,” adding, “I will make this right.” Despite her plea, Teresa ended up being sentenced to 15 month in prison, while her husband received even more time — 41 moths! The saddest part is that the couple are parents to 4 beautiful daughters — poor kids!
The couple was seen holding hands leaving the courthouse while Teresa let her emotions take over — she was clearly bawling behind her sunglasses (we don’t blame her.)
Along with jail time, the couple is required to pay a $414,588 restitution fee that is due immediately.
Before hearing her fate the North Jersey newspaper reports that Teresa read an emotional letter to the court. “I fully take responsibility for my actions. I deeply love my family… My four daughters are my life.” She told the judge, “I wrote this last night because I knew I was going to be nervous… “I’m scared, I’m not going to deny it, I’m really scared.”I have heard you. I need to live to do things for myself,” she read. “It’s time for me to wake up… I will make this right no matter what it takes.”
The Judge reportedly told Teresa, “For a moment I thought about probation … but I think a period of confinement is absolutely necessary in this case. I don’t honestly believe that you understand or respect the law. I need to send a message. In the eyes of the law it doesn’t matter who you are. There are consequences to pay.”
