Maria Canals-Barrera played Selena’s TV mom on ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ and now she’s back with a new show called ‘Cristela.’ Will Selena stop by for a cameo — or better yet, one big ‘Wizards’ reunion? HollywoodLife.com has the EXCLUSIVE scoop straight from Maria!
Believe it or not, it’s only been two years since Selena Gomez, 22, wrapped Wizards of Waverly Place in 2012. Selena has come so far since then, but we’re sure she hasn’t forgotten where she came from. So will she be reconnecting with her magical co-stars on-screen? Here’s what we know.
‘Wizards Of Waverly Place’ Reunion: Will Selena Gomez & Cast Return To TV?
Maria has her fingers crossed that Selena and her other former Wizards co-stars will be featured in guest roles on her new show Cristela.
“I would love to see Selena and David Henrie and Jake [T. Austin]. I would love to see the Wizard family come throughout the hopeful years this show goes on,” Maria gushes to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY.
That said, she thinks it would be best to space out the magic.
“We don’t want to make it a Wizards reunion on Cristela but it would be fun if one year we have a neighbor that gets upset at us and it’s David DeLuise and maybe there is a teacher at school that my daughter really likes and that could be Selena! It would be so fun! They all have huge fan bases so it would be an honor for them to guest star.”
That does sound amazing, but back to that Wizards reunion … will there be one on its own?
“You know, never say never. I am totally open to it,” Maria says. “It was so much fun! I would love to do it.”
Hear that, Selena? Make it happen!
Selena Gomez Tweets About Justin Bieber Heartache? — Has To ‘Learn Hard Way’
Perhaps catching up with her old castmates would be just the thing to distract the “Slow Down” singer now that she appears to be suffering from more Justin Bieber heartache.
Selena unfollowed Justin, 20, on Instagram on Oct. 1 and then tweeted some super sad messages, including one that said: “Sometimes we think we aren’t good enough. But then I realize when I think I’m alone I have God,” and another that read: “We have to learn the hard way sometimes.”
