Eliza Dooley (Karen Gillan) is a mess. Siri is her best friend, “hashtag” is a word in her real-life vocabulary and the only relationship she’s in is with her iPhone. ‘Selfie’: Henry Gives Eliza A Crash Course In Communication — Watch
Selfie explores the much-too-real world of well, selfies.
Fall’s new spin on a rom-com shows the harsh reality of the Instagram age, where we see the world through our iPhone’s camera lens, and no one depicts the disastrous millennial better than Eliza Dooley, played by Karen Gillan.
Eliza is a self-obsessed “insta celeb” who comes to the realization that getting tons of likes doesn’t mean you’re actually well-liked.
So what does she do? She runs to her uptight, savvy and suave coworker Henry to get a life-makeover.
In this sneak peek clip (watch above), Henry attempts to teach Eliza some manners, starting with learning their office’s receptionist’s name. Her first assignment is learning to ask others, “How are you?”
So will she ever get it? Eliza certainly thinks so: “Totes!” “Dunzo!”
Selfie premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 30 (8/7c) on ABC.
