Things took an unexpected turn for Diem Brown, 30, when doctors found tumors in her kidneys. Diem Brown: Her Friends Helping Her Make It Through Hard Time– Exclusive Interview
Julie Rotondi, Diems friend, told HollywoodLife.com, “She was anxious to get things going with chemo, so its hard to hear ‘you can’t have the other half yet because we have to figure out what’s going on with your kidneys.’ Just getting out of the apartment is a big process – she alternates between a walker and wheelchair, but any type of outing is extremely draining and painful.”
She added, “We have a tight group who tries to split up responsibilities, go to appointments, pick up meds, and make sure she’s never on her own for more than a couple hours. We try to keep her distracted, laughing, feeling like things are as normal as possible.” That is so sweet!
Diem Is Looking Forward
Julie said, “She said she’s just looking forward to having one day where she isn’t in so much pain. She’s learning (we all are) she can’t ignore pain or just work through it because letting it go too long can lead to worse complications. Luckily she handled the kidneys quickly and she’s hoping to move forward with treatment as soon as possible. “
Another thing Julie had to mention — “One thing I will never get over is how concerned she is with everyone else, no matter what condition she is in. Constantly apologizing for not being herself, not being more talkative, etc. About 7 hours into the ER, she was still in excruciating pain, had no questions answered, no real updates and she looks at Alicia and I semi-panicked says ‘wait – we have been here all day, you guys haven’t even eaten, you must be starving! I feel so bad! you guys should go! I will be fine!” We just looked at each other and shook our heads and had to laugh – no one in her situation would even have that thought, let alone say it out loud. “
Our thoughts and prayer go out to Diem, her friends, and family!
