Could the original Captain James T. Kirk make an appearance in ‘Star Trek 3’? William Shatner revealed that it’s not out of the realm of possibility!
Please let this happen. There’s been buzz surrounding William Shatner, 83, reprising his role as the original Captain Kirk in all the recent Star Trek reboots. The third film is set to be released in 2016, and William dished in an interview that he’d be “delighted” to return, but there’s a catch.
William Shatner To Appear In ‘Star Trek 3’?
William got Star Trek fans seriously excited when he dished about a possible role in Star Trek 3. At the 2014 Wizard World Nashville Comic Con on Sept. 26, William revealed all about his recent talks with former director of the Star Trek reboots (and now producer), J.J. Abrams.
William said that new director Roberto Orci had told J.J. about an “idea” he had about bringing back the original Captain Kirk for the third film.
“I said, ‘Oh, yeah. If it is meaningful, because when Leonard was Spock…in that first movie, I said to Leonard, ‘You know your role, when you go back in time and you’re still old,'” William said in a fan-made YouTube video from the event.
“So, it depends on what you do with the character, I’d be delighted,” William said to J.J.
Before moving on to the next question, he added, “I’d love to do it!”
This needs to happen. We have to experience the new Captain Kirk, played by Chris Pine, and the original come face-to-face!
