Eric Holder Resign — Announces He Will Step Down After Six Years
Absolutely Shocking! The Huffington Post reports that Eric said, “I have loved the Department of Justice ever since as a young boy I watched Robert Kennedy prove during the civil rights movement how the department can — and must — always be a force for that which is right. I hope that I have done honor to the faith you placed in me, Mr. President, and to the legacy of all those that served before me.”
During Eric’s speech President Obama stood by his side and while he did not name a successor, the President did praise Eric for his longstanding career and dedication. “He believes, as I do, that justice is not just an abstract theory. It’s a living and breathing principle,” the President stated. He also said that Eric worked to, “make sure that those words ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’ are made real for all of us.”
Before the official announcement, Eric gave an interview to CNN where he revealed that he had never planned to stay for Obama’s second term. He told the site, “I’m confident we’re in a good place. Now was a good time to go [with] those accomplishments in the last few years in place.”
“I think I go out having accomplished a great deal in the areas that are of importance to me. I’m satisfied with the work we have done,” Eric said.
