He was only the ripe age of 20, but now 20 years later, he can confidently walk off the field of Yankee Stadium one last time knowing he not only made a great career for himself, but also that he has changed the face of baseball.
As fans gathered to see the legendary Derek Jeter play one last home game, the baseball star showed his love by waving to fans, tipping his hat and standing by the dugout taking in the love one last time before heading onto the field in what would turn out to be a very eventful farewell.
After the Yankees had blown a large lead against the Baltimore Orioles, they found themselves scurrying to gain back the lead in the ninth inning.
Out comes Derek ready to take back his stadium during his final moments of the last home game. And he did just that. With one swing of the bat, he slapped his trademark single to right field, sending Antoan Richardson sprinting toward home plate — giving the Yankees and their fans a dramatic game-winning 6-5 triumph over the Baltimore Orioles!
