Not only did the trend take over the Fall 2014 runways, but the celeb set also can’t stop showing them off — clearly capes are here to stay! Want to try the look? SHOP for it right here.
Fall ushers in a season filled with layering up in luxe looks — and nothing is more chic than throwing on a cape! Whether you wear it with a light dress or trousers and a top on a warm day or layer it over your coat when it gets even chillier, you can’t go wrong with this trend. It has been a while since we’ve seen the cape really steal the spotlight, but that’s about to change! During fashion week we saw too many capes to count come down the runway, and it’s a fashion-forward look that the celeb set also loves.
Capes — Fall 2014 Outerwear:
The most recognizable cape has to be Burberry’s customizable poncho. After the models closed the Fall 2014 Burberry Prorsum show, all wrapped in their very own versions, it-girls Cara Delevingne and Suki Waterhouse were quick to take the trend right off the catwalk and make the look their own — and they aren’t the only ones who can’t get enough of the silhouette! Sarah Jessica Parker and Olivia Palermo have also sported the hot item.
While the poncho certainly stands out, it isn’t the only cape we’ve seen storm the runway! Too many shows to count, (including Valentino and ), showed off a variety of capes. From dressy versions to casual looks and gowns that incorporated the silhouette, the trend is here to stay in a big way — and you can totally own the look, too!
Simply SHOP our picks if you want to look chic in a cape this season and have fun experimenting! Whether you dress up your jeans or layer it over a dress or separates, you can wear a cape at any time of the day — you can even make a statement in a gown that has one built in for a more formal occasion!
