‘True Detective’: Rachel McAdams Set To Star As Female Lead
Take that, Ryan Gosling! (I kid, I kid.) Ryan may have a new baby on board, but Rachel McAdams is about to have a new, huge gig on board, according to a brand new report.
Rachel is very close to closing a deal to be the female lead on Season 2 of HBO’s True Detective, our sister site Variety exclusively reports.
No details have been released on Rachel’s reported role, but sources say that rather than the male duo, Colin Farrell, 38, and Vince Vaughn, 44, the female lead is set to be the breakout star of the upcoming season, much like Matthew McConaughey‘s critically acclaimed Rust Cohle.
Friday Night Lights hunk Taylor Kitsch is likely rounding out the main cast, as he’s said to be cast in the fourth lead role, HollywoodLife.com previously reported.
Jessica Chastain was rumored to be offered the female role, and actresses Jessica Biel and Malin Ackerman were also considered for the part that is ultimately going to Rachel who has been seen as the frontrunner in recent weeks, reports Variety.
Colin Farrell & Vince Vaughn Cast In ‘True Detective’ Season 2
Just two days before Rachel’s reported casting, Colin and Vince nabbed the two male leads, HBO announced on Sept. 23.
The two actors will play completely different characters than the Emmy-nominated roles made famous by Matthew and Woody Harrelson in the debut season.
Colin will play Ray Velcoro, a crooked detective and Vince will take on the role of Frank Semyon, a crime boss whose business partner is brutally murdered.
HollywoodLifers, do you think that Rachel is the perfect fit to star in True Detective with Colin and Vince? Drop a comment below and let us know if you agree with the casting! If not, which woman would you rather see in the female lead?
