Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino Charged With Tax Fraud: ‘Jersey Shore’ Star Indicted
Mike and his brother Marc Sorrentino are scheduled to appear in court today, Sept. 24, after being indicted on charges they filed false income tax returns from 2010-2012, U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Paul J. Fishman announced, according to NJ.com.
Mike is being indicted on two counts of filing false returns, while Marc is being indicted on three. And both are being indicted on one count of conspiracy.
“Michael and Marc Sorrentino filed false tax returns that incorrectly reported millions made from promotions and appearances,” the U.S. Attorney said. “The brothers allegedly also claimed costly clothes and cars as business expenses and funneled company money into personal accounts. The law is absolutely clear: telling the truth to the IRS is not optional.”
If found guilty, Mike could serve nine years in prison, which includes a year in prison for allegedly failing to file his 2011 income tax return. That year, he pulled in more than $1.95 million in income.
