The moment we’ve been waiting for all summer is finally here! After 97 days, a winner was finally crowned — who won ‘Big Brother’ season 16?
Big Brother came to an end on the amazing September 24 finale, leaving Derrick, Cody and Victoria to battle it out in the final HOH of the season. From the jury’s comments, to their reaction when learning of Team America (and of Derrick’s hidden job), we’re breaking down the nail biting finale of Big Brother! Are you happy with the winner?
‘Big Brother’ Finale
We’ve got to start with the first HOH, which to nobody’s surprise, came down to Cody and Derrick hanging on for their lives. Although he wanted to convince Cody to give him the first part, Derrick wasn’t getting his way, so decided to hop off.
So part two of the HOH was Derrick Vs. Victoria — the BFFs were up against each other, in a pharaoh-inspired challenge, where they had to not only remember the order the houseguests were eliminated, but who was next to them on the block. Oh, and they have to put them in order while scaling a gold wall. Whoever did it faster won, and again, to no one’s surprise, Derrick’s 15 minutes, beat out Victoria’s 30 minutes.
Part three put up the hitmen against each other. Derrick and Cody went against each other “Scales of Just Us,” a competition about how well they know the houseguests. Julie gave them a series of questions and they had to choose how the jury members answered. The hitmen really are in sync — they actually tied and had to go to a tiebreaker, crowning Cody as the final HOH!
Final 2 Revealed
It was probably the quickest three-to-two speech ever, as Cody quickly chose his ride or die man, Derrick. This sent Victoria to the jury — and it was time for questioning. We’ve got to say our favorite point was when Frankie had to ask Cody how he felt about Derrick being the “puppet master,” and Cody had the perfect answer.
“I’m really glad you asked this question because I had the single hand in sending you home, because I convinced your best friend in the game (Caleb) to flip on you and send you out of the house. I think that played as good of a game as he (Derrick) did. I do appreciate that though,” he said. I absolutely loved seeing Derrick giggling through out it all!
However, Cody’s last words were a little harsh — he said he respected them all, but it was hard to hear himself called a puppet. He basically said he’s not a puppet if he sent home all of the “beasts” int he jury. He does have a point.
‘Big Brother’ Winner Revealed
Since it was a live finale, the jurors didn’t exactly get that they weren’t supposed to reveal their votes while voting. Zach, of course, revealed (or maybe lied) that he was voting for Rhode Island over Jersey (AKA: Derrick). I totally loved that Caleb took the credit for both of them being in the final spots.
Before the winner was revealed, the first group to go home returned and the jury learned all the secrets of the house — namely Team America and Derrick’s huge secret that he’s actually an undercover cop. Seeing their reactions was actually probably my favorite part of the entire episode.
Moment of truth came next: the winner of Big Brother is . . . Derrick! He went the entire season without going up on the block. In a season with four people going up each week, that’s just unheard of!
Here’s the breakdown of who voted for who:
Jocasta voted Cody.
Hayden voted Derrick.
Zach voted Derrick.
Donnie voted Cody.
Nicole voted Derrick.
Christine voted Derrick.
Frankie voted Derrick.
Caleb voted Derrick.
Victoria voted Derrick.
Additionally, Donnie won America’s Favorite Player with more than five million votes! The top three players in the running were Zach, Nicole and Donnie, but Donnie totally deserved it.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Did the right person win? Do you think someone else should have? Let us know what you thought about the finale!
