Paula Deen sat down on Sept. 23, for her first interview on the ‘Today’ show since her June 2013 interview where she emotionally apologized for using racial slurs.
Paula Deen, 67, seems to have completely turned over a new leaf since the last time we saw her on the Today show back in June 2013! The Southern cooking star was on hand to discuss what she has learned since she infamously used racial slurs and what she is currently working on! Are you able to forgive her?
Paula Deen’s ‘Today’ Show Interview: First Time Since Controversy — Watch
The last time Paula did an interview she was tearfully apologizing for saying some incredibly nasty racial slurs. This time, the cooking mogul’s return to TV is all positive as she apologizes further and shares some new and exciting ventures.
When Matt Lauer, 56, aired the footage of Paula’s last interview, Paula could not even look at the tape. “I did not recognize that woman. That was a woman in trauma, in shock, trying to understand what had happened.”
Paula insists that she should not have even done the first interview — “I probably should have been at home, maybe even under the care of a doctor.”
While the TV chef admits that it took a while for her to understand why her words caused so many people so much hurt despite her having said them 30 years prior, Paula says that she “had to remove [herself] and sit quietly so that [she] could think and see things from all angles.” Indeed, it took her a while, but she finally understood why she lost sponsorships and respect both.
She also expressed frustration that the dropped lawsuit against her received virtually no attention in the press compared to the initial deposition.

However, Paula is bouncing back in a big way.
According to the New York Daily News, Paula is set to launch her online Paula Deen Network on Sept. 23! She has reportedly obtained the rights from The Food Network and other TV ventures to use as footage on her subscription-based new network.
That’s not all Paula has up her sleeve! In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, the famous chef announced plans to work on a documentary that would showcase her life since 2012.
In a phone interview she told the site, “We feel like America needs to know the true story, and everything that happened. I’m bound by the courts, so I can only say so much. But there’s nothing to stop others from talking about it.”
Paula also dished on what she is looking forward to about having her own network. “That’s the beauty of what we’re doing now. We have total and complete control,” she told the site. “If we disagree on something, we can discuss it right then and there. We don’t have to put it before a group in a tall building somewhere. We can discuss it right there. It’s as real as it can get.”
Following Paul’s fallout last year, she lost some very important endorsement deals including her partnership with Walmart and QVC. Now, she is ready to make her way back to the kitchen and show America that she is a new woman.
