Lorde is on a roll! After an amazing performance at this weekend’s iHeartRadio Music Festival, she has thrilled fans of The Hunger Games by revealing the title and the cover art of her new single, that will appear on the soundtrack. Take a look!
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is set to release worldwide on Nov. 21 and is slated to drop their much-anticipated soundtrack sometime this fall. Fans can expect to hear Lorde’s single on the album, however, at the end of this month!
On Sept. 22, Lorde tweeted a photo of the cover, which sports a gold “Mockingjay” over the title of the song, “Yellow Flicker Beat.”
She captioned the photo, “SEPTEMBER 29,” which is when fans can buy the single.
In July, Lionsgate announced that Lorde would be featured on the album. The record-breaking singer is no stranger to the franchise, as she contributed to the soundtrack for the first movie.
On being asked to contribute to the renowned movies, Lorde told the New Zealand Herald, “Curating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge but I jumped at the chance… I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.”
According to the publication, the movie’s director, Francis Lawrence, raved about the singer’s ability to capture the essence of the film.
Previous movies in the franchise have featured music from heavyweights like Coldplay and Of Monsters and Men, and so although there’s no definite word on who we can expect to join Lorde on the album, we’re sure it’s going to be great! Do you love the cover art?
