‘The Big Bang Theory’ Season 8 Premiere — Will Penny & Leonard Get Married?
The Big Bang Theory cast is making the big bucks, so will they spend their million-dollar paychecks on a big wedding? Not yet.
Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard on the wildly popular sitcom, says don’t expect wedding bells to ring anytime soon, even though his character popped the question to Penny (Kaley) on the Season 7 finale.
“It’s important to Penny to prove to her mother that she’s not pregnant!” Johnny jokes with Fox News.
When the TV couple does get hitched, it’s not going to be as extravagant as the actors could afford in real life.
“I think a good white-trash wedding with her family would be a lot of fun,” Johnny says about his idea of Penny and Leonard’s perfect nuptials. “But if it were left up to Leonard, he would not invite his mother and they’d probably just get Chinese takeout.”
Will Penny’s New Job Hurt Her Relationship With Leonard?
Other than having a newly engaged couple on the new season, there’s a lot of changes in store for the gang. Penny, for one, has a new job, as a pharmaceutical sales rep. Goodbye, struggling actress!
“Part of her new job is going to be a lot of flirting, and that’s going to threaten him,” the actor adds. “People who are older and more successful than he is will fall for her, and Penny and Leonard are going to have to find a really profound strength to survive that.”
The series’ executive producer Chuck Lorre announced Penny’s new gig at the TCA conference, earlier this summer, HollywoodLife.com previously reported. “She is going to start making some money. She’s going to find some confidence and self-esteem, which acting does not provide in great heaping doses.”
He also revealed that her new job will “unbalance their relationship as the power shifts.”
The Big Bang Theory airs Mondays (8/7c) on CBS.
