‘DWTS’ Week 2 Recap — Stars Dance To Their Favorite Songs
Randy Couture & Karina Smirnoff kicked off the night dancing the Cha Cha to “Satisfaction (I Can’t Get No).” Judge Len Goodman said: “You come out and give it your everything. Well done, Randy.” Bruno Tonioli said: “Your energy and enthusiasm are in the right place, just clean up the edges.” They got a 28 out of 40!
Janel Parrish & Val Chmerkovskiy danced the Foxtrot to “Call Me Maybe.” “That wasn’t a traditional Foxtrot but screw tradition because I loved it,” Julianne Hough squealed. “You can call me anytime you want! She’s hot to trot,” Bruno said. Carrie Ann Inaba said it was close to perfect! They got a 34!
Next, Lea Thompson & Artem Chigvintsev jived to “Land of 1000 Dances.” Bruno raved: “Viva la Lea!” Carrie Ann was so excited she fell out of her chair! Julianne said she gave her chills and called Lea a “hot mama leopard!” They got a 35!
Michael Waltrip & Emma Slater danced the Samba to “Girls In Bikinis.” Carrie Ann said she likes that he is lighthearted and fun, but didn’t see much of the Samba. Julianne said he mastered the hip rolls but had some problems in between moves. They got a 24 out of 40.
Tavis Smiley & Sharna Burgess danced the Cha Cha to “Boogie Wonderland.” They practiced in between his book tour which lead to rehearsals in hotel hallways and elevators. “I know you’ve had a tough week and, unfortunately, it showed a bit because it lacked a bit of polish,” Len said. “I disagree. I thought you got all the steps!” Carrie Ann said. They got a 28 out of 40.
Alfonso Ribeiro & Witney Carson danced the Samba to “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” by his Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air co-star Will Smith. “Your charisma and feel for the music is unique and extraordinary. I could watch you dance forever,” Bruno said. Carrie Ann said they lost connection but called the performance “solid.” Len said he can’t wait to see him do a more “ballroom-centric” dance next week. They got a 32 out of 40!
Bethany Mota & Derek Hough danced the Foxtrot to “All About That Bass.” The DWTS curse has struck again! Bethany practiced through an ankle injury all week and performed with a large brace — but it didn’t matter! “Foxy Bethany, that really tickled my fancy! I loved all the little details!” Bruno said. Carrie Ann said she loved that the pair “tells the story” of the dance. Len raved: “That was a great number! Best I’ve seen tonight!” They got a 33!
More #MyJam Dances
Betsey Johnson & Tony Dovolani danced to “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” They got a standing ovation! “All hail Queen Betsey!” Carrie Ann screamed. “You are exquisite, you are beautiful, you are flexible!” Julianne said it was a make-under: “simple, elegant, and timeless.” Bruno said she’s ready for her close-up! They got a 28!
Antonio Sabato Jr. & Cheryl Burke danced a ridiculously sexy Rumba to “Adorn” by Miguel. “There’s no secret to this show — you’ve just gotta be better the following week and that’s what you did,” Len said. Julianne said she was “really, really impressed.” Bruno gave him the best criticism: “You’ve got a very nice butt — use it even more.” They got a 31!
Tommy Chong & Peta Murgatroyd danced Salsa to “Higher.” Bruno siad: “You’ve really proven that age is a state of mind. You are as young as you feel.” Carrie Ann said he was smooth. Len said he “overdosed on fun.” They got a 28!
Jonathan Bennett & Allison Holker danced the Cha Cha to “Sing” by Ed Sheeran (and they kissed on the lips!) “I loved seeing this side of you but I honestly felt it wasn’t enough Cha Cha,” Carrie Ann said. Len said it was jerky and didn’t have enough content. They got a 30.
To finish the night, Sadie Robertson & Mark Ballas danced jazz to “She’s Country” by Jason Aldean. “I thought you killed it,” Carrie Ann said. Len said the country and jazz dance didn’t gel. Julianne called her a natural performer. They got a 31!
