So scary! ‘Twilight’ star Jackson Rathbone was on JetBlue Flight 1416 from Long Beach, California to Austin, Texas with his wife and young child on Sept. 18, when the plane’s engine ‘exploded’ and pilots were forced to make an emergency landing.

Jackson Rathbone, 29, tried to remain calm for his wife, Sheila Hafsadi, and 2-year-old son, Monroe Jackson Rathbone VI, as the cabin filled with smoke. The brave actor even live tweeted the terrifying experience as it unfolded.

Jackson, who is best known for his role playing Jasper Hale in The Twilight Saga, shared his “near-death experience” with the world, sending out the following tweets on Sept. 18:

Flight 1416 had to make an emergency landing when the crew discovered that the No. 2 engine was overheating, JetBlue confirms to The Independent. The plane had just departed for Austin, Texas and was 9,400 feet in the air when pilots had to turn around and make an emergency landing in California.

All 142 passengers and five crew members were evacuated via an inflatable slide after the plane landed. Four passengers received treatment for minor injuries; one of them was taken to the hospital, according to a spokeswoman from Long Beach Airport.

One of the passengers took a super scary video of the flight, in which the pilot can be heard saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, we have a right engine failure. We’re shutting down the engine and heading back to Long Beach at this time, please stay in your seats and we’ll try to clear the cabin of smoke if we can. Thank you.” Watch the video above.

Jackson took to Twitter to show fans how he and his family celebrated surviving the “near-death experience” — with a “wine and champagne tasting!”

Cheers to you, Jackson, we’re so glad you’re safe and sound!

So HollywoodLifers, are YOU glad Jackson and his family are OK? Let us know!
