I know what you’ll be doing in two summers! Sony Pictures just announced that they hope to release a reboot of the 1997 horror flick, ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ just in time for summer 2016!
The revival of the raunchy and scary cult hit, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” is on Sony’s high-priority list of upcoming releases — and we couldn’t be more excited. Will Jennifer Love-Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. reunite? Well, we can only hope.
‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Remake In The Works
The film that showed a group of teenagers being stalked by a sinister fisherman opened to very mixed reviews, but incredible commercial success, considering that it had grossed over $125 million when it first released. The teen hormone-fueled movie featured the who’s-who of the young Hollywood scene at the time –Jennifer Love-Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr., as well as Ryan Phillipe and Sarah Michelle Geller.
As you know, Freddie and Sarah went on to get married, and Ryan worked alongside Sarah just two years later in Cruel Intentions. Needless to say, the movie made quite the impression.
“I Know What You Did Last Summer” was followed by two sequels — “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer,” which included most of the original cast, followed by a not-so-impressive. “I’ll Always Know What You Did That Summer.” The latter was rated 0% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Sony has now enlisted Mike Flanagan, the writer/director of the year’s surprise hit horror film Oculus, to write the script with respect to the 1973 novel the movie was based off of. The producer of the original film, Neil Moritz, has also agreed. Deadline was the first to report the news.
No word yet on who will be cast in this awaited reboot, but here’s to hoping that it will be filled with just as much eye-candy! Would you see the remake, HollywoodLifers? Let us know.
