Chris Brown ‘X’ Album Review — His Best Album Yet
X has absolutely everything that a Chris fan could want! From dance tracks, songs about love and heartbreak, and even a few retro tracks that are reminiscent of Michael Jackson! This album is extremely diverse and definitely shows off Chris’s immense talent!
Chris sat down with MTV News back in 2013 and revealed how he wanted his album to sound, “For this album, I wanted to have the same mentality as I did with the first album — me being green, me not thinking I know what’s hot and what’s next, me just being Chris Brown. I think this will show my vocal ability a lot more. I’ve developed a falsetto, I can sing at a higher register, and I can elaborate more on my skill.”
It seems like he really achieved both the sound and the vibe that he was going for!
Some of the songs on the album were definitely a little bit racy and dealt with sex and love. His track “Stereotype,” talks about leaving a relationship and starting a new one. Chris definitely could have drawn some inspiration for this track from his breakup with ex-girlfriend, Rihanna and his current love with Karrueche Tran!
The lyrics read:
You were different my baby
Now I see you’re just like the rest
Thought you were different my baby
You’d become my biggest regret—
Can’t blame you
You were only being yourself
I fell in love with someone that I barely knew, why?
Fool me once, shame on you, baby
Fool me twice, should have know that there would be problems girl
Another one of Chris’s more sexual tracks is, “Down In It” which features R. Kelly.
We’ll be making love until the morning after
And I can feel your tide slowly rising
As I’m supping for your water fountain
We gon’ flood the bed, take it to the ground
Another amazing track is called, “Add Me In.” It has a great mixture between a retro feel with very modern and cute lyrics that are about solving love problems with math terms mixed in!
Overall, I have to say that I am very impressed with his latest album, and it was definitely worth the wait. I loved that Chris gave such a wide range of emotions in each song, but kept his signature sound!
