All the preparation and primping has paid off for one lucky woman! 53 beautiful and talented contestants vied for the title of Miss America in Atlantic City, New Jersey on Sept. 14. Find out who took home the crown!
The time had come for Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri, 25, to pass the crown a new winner. Lara Spencer, 45, and Chris Harrison, 43, geared up to announce the big news, and the audience held its collective breath as the final decision came down to Miss Virginia and Miss New York. It’s a shame only one could carry home the biggest bouquet.
Miss America 2015 Winner Is Miss New York Kira Kazantsev
Was it a nail-biter in Atlantic City on Sept. 14? You bet your butt glue and hair spray it was! From the swimsuit competition to the evening gown round, tensions ran high as the group of women was whittled down to the top two contestants — Miss New York Kira Kazantsev, 23, and Miss Virginia Courtney Garrett, 21.
So who was this year’s lucky lady? It’s a three-peat! Miss New York Kira Kazantsev has been crowned Miss America 2015! The stunning blonde shrieked in disbelief and excitement when her name was announced. Although, maybe it was meant to be! This is the third time in a row that Miss New York has won the Miss America pageant.
The historic competition, first started in 1921, pits 53 contestants representing all 50 states — as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands — against each other for the title of Miss America.
Miss America 2014 Crowns Kira Kazantsev
We hope Kira remembers this special moment and is ready for all the traveling she’s about to do! Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri told NBC News of her own big night in 2013, “I honestly don’t remember the actual crowning moment. It was such a blur!”
Nina, who hails from Syracuse, New York, logged almost 200,000 miles during her reign while promoting Miss America’s national community service partner, Children’s Miracle Networ, and her personal Diversity and Cultural Competency community service platform.
The most important thing for the winner to remember as her reign begins? Shared Nina, “My biggest advice is to know who you are, love who you are, and stand up for who you are.”
Good luck, Kira! Congrats!
