David Haines, a British aid worker who was captured in Syria in 2013, appears to have been beheaded by militant group Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), like James Foley and Steven Sotloff before him. So sad.
In a video entitled “A Message to the Allies of America,” militant group ISIS appear to have executed yet another foreign hostage in a vicious beheading, this time British aid worker David Haines, 44. As of this writing, the video’s authenticity is still in question, but officials have confirmed that it shares many similarities to the executions of American journalists James Foley, 40, Steven Sotloff, 31.
David Haines Beheaded By ISIS: British Aid Worker Executed By Militant Group
The video runs two minutes and 28 seconds, reports The Guardian, and it ends with a threat to another British aid worker named Alan Hennig.
David had been married twice and had two daughters — Bethany, 17, and Althea, 4.
When he was named as ISIS’ next victim, his second wife, Dragana, who lives with Althea in Sisak — a town south of Zagreb — told The Daily Telegraph: “He’s everything to us. He’s our life. He’s a fantastic man and father. Nobody can understand how we are feeling. My daughter keeps asking about him every day. She has gone through so much. She sees me crying all the time.”
British Prime Minister David Cameron: ISIS Is The ‘Embodiment Of Evil’
British Prime Minister David Cameron vowed in a press conference on Sept. 14 to take down the “monsters” responsible, condemning ISIS as the “embodiment of evil.”
“David Haines was a British hero,” said the Prime Minister. “The fact that an aid worker was taken, held and brutally murdered at the hands of [ISIS] sums up what this organization stands for.
“They are killing and slaughtering thousands of people – Christians, Muslims, minorities across Iraq and Syria. They boast of their brutality. They claim to do this in the name of Islam.
“That is nonsense. Islam is a religion of peace. They are not Muslims, they are monsters.”

President Barack Obama also released a statement about the murder of David Haines, telling the American people:
“The United States strongly condemns the barbaric murder of UK citizen David Haines by the terrorist group [ISIS]. Our hearts go out to the family of Mr. Haines and to the people of the United Kingdom.
“The United States stands shoulder to shoulder tonight with our close friend and ally in grief and resolve. We will work with the UK and a broad coalition of nations from the region and around the world to bring the perpetrators of this outrageous act to justice, and to degrade and destroy this threat to the people of our countries, the region and the world.”
Our thoughts go out to David Haines’ family during this extremely difficult time and we can only hope that the militant members of ISIS will soon be brought to justice.
