A photographer’s claim that Ariana Grande stopped a Sept. 8 photo shoot in Sydney, Australia because she wasn’t happy with the results might have some truth to it. Giuliana Rancic recently exposed an unpleasant encounter she had with the pop starlet at the 2013 American Music Awards during an episode of E! News — her story is quite shocking.
There have been multiple claims, suggesting Ariana has been rude to fans, she’s difficult to deal with on sets, and she only allows people to photograph her from the left side. Giuliana discussed all of these claims and more with co-hosts Jason Kennedy and Catt Sadler on Sept. 9.
“I think [Ariana] does have a little bit of a diva thing going on,” Giuliana confessed.
“I don’t know if that’s just part of the image she wants out there, like ‘I’m a young Mariah [Carey], I’m a diva.’ Because I remember, I think it was at the [American Music Awards], she came up on the platform, and normally I stand on this side [her left side] to the camera. I had to fight 13 years to get this side to the camera, it’s my good side, but I fought 13 years for this, OK? Little Ariana comes over, I feel like BING, elbow in my side, I’m like ‘what’s going on?’ and they push me to the other side. So I had to be on my ugly side. But I felt like a little bit of a, you know it was like ‘you either get on the other side or we don’t do an interview,’ and I just kind of felt like it’s one thing if it’s Mariah, you know, I’ll get on any side, I’ll bend down, I’ll climb a ladder, whatever it takes to get Mariah to do an interview. But when you’re new on the block, when you’re trying to earn your stripes, you’re young, you just gotta do what you gotta do, try to get a great reputation, try to go overboard to please people,” she said in a lengthy rant.
“If you don’t watch out, you will be Katherine Heigl‘d,” Jason said, jokingly warning Ariana, who may or may not have watched this segment.
Jason clarified, “You get this reputation and then people don’t want to work with you.”
Katherine famously left Grey’s Anatomy in 2010 after publicly dissing the show, and since then she’s been slammed by Hollywood as hard to work with.
We definitely don’t want to see Ariana go down a similar path, so we certainly hope these diva claims aren’t true.
Ariana, who was recently in Sydney promoting her new album My Everything, called the diva claims “untrue” when she spoke to Mike E and Emma on 96.ONE.
Speaking of the photo shoot walkout rumors, she said, “It was just a photographer who got mad at me because I left to change my outfit mid-photo shoot because I didn’t like my top. I was like, ‘Oh I’ll be right back!’ and I came back and he had left.”
