Alison Sweeney: ‘The Biggest Loser’ Host Reveals Her Healthy Weight Loss Tip
As host of The Biggest Loser, Alison knows a thing or two about losing weight the right way.
The beloved soap star (who’s leaving Days Of Our Lives soon) and mother of two tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that her secret to healthy living is simple: sleep!
“I would say that sleep is the biggest surprising tip!” Alison says. “Obviously nothing replaces eating right and working out, but sleep is such an importance part of the equation. And I think it is the most underestimated.”
“The important thing that we talk about on the show is that nutrition and fitness go hand-in-hand in helping people get healthy,” she says of The Biggest Loser. “Sleep is just as important.”
Alison, who has teamed up with Sleep Number and uses SleepIQ to track her sleep every night, explains, “Getting enough sleep [is important] to rest your body, and rejuvenate yourself, and help lower your cortisol levels and melatonin so you can actually be revitalized to use your body and challenge your body the next day. And along with that is, when you don’t get enough sleep, you’re more tempted to eat unhealthy food and you’re more tempted to use caffeine to help spike your energy. There are the pitfalls that go along with that.”
Alison admits that she now values sleep, but didn’t always consider its importance for the body.
“I’ll be honest, I did not practice what I preached –like five hours of sleep a night,” she reveals to HollywoodLife.com. “And it’s been really amazing actually. Sleep Number has made such a huge difference. It makes such a huge difference to my sleep patterns and my successful sleeping [and] helps me be happier and healthier and have more energy during the day.”
It’s definitely working! Alison has never looked better, and she should be proud of her newfound healthy lifestyle and fabulous body!
