The designer paid homage to Marilyn Monroe with her retro, chic, and seductive Spring 2015 collection. From full ball gowns to slinky dresses, it’s only a matter of time before Jenny’s famous fans sport the latest looks!
Jenny Packham served up a modern Marilyn moment that oozed sexy chic sophistication as models glided down the runway with an air of mystery and seduction when she debuted her Spring 2015 collection during New York Fashion Week on Sept. 9 at The Waterfront Tunnel. The Spring 2015 collection can easily be summed up in one phrase: retro, old Hollywood glamour with a modern twist — and it was all in the details for spring, as we saw everything from pretty palm prints to shimmering sequins and embroidered organza floral appliqués come down the runway.
Jenny Packham’s Spring 2015 Collection:
While the designer is known for her stunning evening wear and ability to incorporate intricate detailing in her designs, (and there was surely no short of it!), I really appreciated the versatility in the collection. Jenny manages to reinvent herself each season while still dreaming up dresses women are dying to wear. It’s important to keep in mind one of Jenny’s most famous clients, Kate Middleton. After being given the opportunity to craft for the chic, demure Duchess time and time again, I definitely think it’s important for her to keep reminding us that she won’t be defined by one famously photographed dress or a certain silhouette — and while there were surely looks I would love to see on Kate in the collection, that just scratched the surface of the glamour Jenny sent down the runway.
Nude gowns with a second-skin element were decorated with graphic sequins in bold shades — and they oozed sexy sophistication. The most dramatic looks in the collection were definitely the two ball gowns — and while I definitely think we’ll be seeing them again come awards season, I wouldn’t be surprised if the fashionable first lady suited up in the finale look. The pretty print on the sleeveless, belted gown would be perfect for a gala.
Along with the stunning clothes, embellished purses and sparkling, statement jewelry, (all by Jenny, of course!), complimented the looks perfectly and tied the whole collection together. Diamonds are a girl’s best friend, after all — and nothing evokes Marilyn’s screen siren style quite like lavish cocktail rings, sparkling cuffs, and chandelier earrings. Models rocked a red-orange hue (created by Michelle Saunders for essie), on their nails that offered up a playful punch which worked so well with the collection.
Jenny Packham — From The Runway To The Red Carpet:
Given Jenny’s strong staple of famous fans, you know it’s only a matter of time before these gorgeous gowns and detailed dresses make the jump from the runway to the red carpet. In fact, I hard a hard time limiting the list of stars I want to see in the collection, because there were dresses that were perfect for so many leading ladies. From Christina Hendricks and Halle Berry to Nina Dobrev and Anna Gunn, I can’t wait to see who shines while creating their very own Marilyn moment in a Spring 2015 look — and I also wouldn’t rule out the chance of seeing a modified maternity version on Kate Middleton, of course!
