‘The Leftovers’ wrapped its first season with a crazy finale on September 7 — but really, when is this show ever not insanely gripping? — and seemingly, left Nora here to stay.

Actress Carrie Coon opens up in a brand new interview about her character Nora Durst’s fate on The Leftovers, after the twisted finale. Will Nora be back and if so, where will she stand with Kevin (Justin Theroux) in Season 2?

‘The Leftovers’ Finale: Nora Finds Peace & Does Not Leave Kevin

Just when it seemed like Nora was going to be gone for good, one of Holy Wayne’s (Paterson Joseph) babies came across her, at the perfect time to give her hope to start a family anew.

“Yeah, Lil Wayne! I think that’s going to be a very popular joke,” Carrie told the Daily Beast, bringing some levity to her dark storyline, following the finale.

“We have roles we play in our lives, and Nora’s role—of wife and mother—were snatched from her so suddenly, and then she didn’t know who she was so she became the grieving woman, and that role was snatched from her at the conference,” the actress told the site, referring to the goodbye letter she gave to Kevin, which was made out to be a suicide note, before she left town. “I think she thinks she’s too cowardly to kill herself. She thinks she’s a coward, and thinks that the strength to take her own life isn’t something she possesses, so instead she’s running away.”

Of course, by episode’s end, it became clear that Nora is not running away, but instead, has found peace with the newfound baby. So what does that mean for her and Kevin’s future, as she enters Season 2?

Carrie Coon: Is Nora Returning For Season 2?

To set the record straight, Carrie is not yet confirmed to return to Season 2, but after the finale, it’s likely that she’s here to stay.

“I don’t know,” Nora admitted in the interview about returning to the show, which has been renewed. “I can’t officially comment on that, because Damon’s [Lindelof, series creator] been out of town on a much-deserved vacation, so as soon as he gets back I think that will get figured out.”

We’ll be keeping out fingers crossed for her return — it just wouldn’t be fair to let her run away now. We’re holding onto hope for her and Kevin!

HollywoodLifers, did the finale surprise you? Did you think that Nora would be gone for good? Weigh down below with your thoughts.
