Luminous, gorgeous, futuristic, sophisticated, and beautiful — those were the words the hair and makeup teams at Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2015 show described the look. Get the exact how-tos below!
Monique Lhuillier is known for her floaty and dreamy designs, and the collection transcended into stunning hair and makeup for her Spring 2015 collection, which she debuted in New York City on Sept. 5 during New York Fashion Week.
Monique Lhuillier Runway — Feminine Makeup & Nails For Spring 2015 Collection
Nails were curated by Gina Edwards using Morgan Taylor lacquers.
Gina told HollywoodLife.com backstage that they were going for a “lucite nail” like the lucite shoes the models wore on the runway. They mixed Morgan Taylor’s “coral creme Color Me Bold and light mauve cream Coming up Roses” to the very base of the nail.
Using a sponging technique, and going nail by nail, the color ombred itself into a clear gloss at the tip of the nail.
Makeup At Monique Lhuillier — Spring 2015 Beauty
Makeup was lead by artist Val Garland. She told HollywoodLife.com backstage that the look was centered around “beautiful, gorgeous, real skin [SK-II masks were applied to model’s faces for 15 minutes before makeup). The show is inspired by air and water and the clothes are gorgeous. The element was a reflection on the corners of the eyes. There’s an expected toughness about it. The girls are young — we needed to give them a big of an edge.”
To get the look, take cellophane and cut it up into tiny pieces. Dip a Q-tip in eyelash glue and dot on the corners of eyes. Wait for glue to dry and it will become clear. Then apply the pieces of cellophane.
“It’s futuristic but incredibly beautiful,” Val told us.
Sleek & Straight Hair Using Moroccanoil
Hair design was by Celebrity Stylist Recine for Moroccanoil.
He told HollywoodLife.com about the inspiration: “The hair is a reflection of the luminous fabrics in the collection. It’s a little bit oily. There is a small important detail [a hidden ponytail under the hair] — a sophisticated detail to hold the hair back. It pulls the temples and keeps the hair in place. You won’t notice the ponytail. It’s very sophisticated.”
Here’s the step by step:
“Start by applying Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse to damp hair to create smooth, controlled strands from the hairline to the ear.
Before drying, mist Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Medium all over hair for added smoothness.
Blow dry hair straight using Moroccanoil Boar Bristle Brush.
Use Moroccanoil’s Titanium Ceramic Hair Styling Iron to straighten 1” sections from root-to-tip
Next, pinch a 1” section of the hair at the temples and pull smooth to the nape of the neck. Pin underneath. Spray Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray Strong on the pinned section for an extra-sleek, smooth look.
To finish, spritz a veil of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine over the hair to reflect light and create a shiny, iridescent finish.”
