Welcome to ‘Utopia!’ FOX’s latest addition to the reality show genre is different than anything we’ve ever seen, and the contestants are downright crazy. But will it be a hit or is it too out-of-this-world to even make any sense?
Utopia is supposed to be a perfect world. Well, when you have 15 strangers on reality TV, building that perfect world with cameras surrounding them 24/7, the outcome may not be so pristine. Read on to see if fans think the new series is a glorious, new world or global disaster.
‘Utopia’ Premieres On FOX
Utopia is reality TV’s latest social experiment. The show, which premiered on Sunday, September 7, puts 15 real-life strangers into a remote location to build a perfect world.
Big Brother creator John de Mol is the creator of the series, which he describes as, “the most purest form of reality.”
The contestants come together with no family, outside friends, food or heat and are put to the test of creating a new world — for an entire year. The show films for 52 weeks with cameras surrounding the cast and crew for all hours of the day.
With different religions, different sexes, different beliefs on essentially everything and different personalities, will the strangers unite or will they break out in fight? Or will they procreate? (Like every other reality TV show, there’s also bound to be waterfall hookups, as seen in the promo above.)
When everyone’s dream is a different reality, the answer is drama.

I thought Utopia was one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen… & apparently everyone else agrees.

Those of you who watched Utopia on Fox instead of reading the book that was assigned to you are so screwed right now.

Okay. Done with #Utopia. They stocked it with men with explosive tempers, which is not cute.
— Linda Holmes (@nprmonkeysee) September 8, 2014
The only thing Utopia has taught me is that people who want to be on TV are the absolute worst, tied with the people who put them on.

HollywoodLifers, did you tune into Utopia? What did you think — hit or miss? Let us know!
