Ray Rice Cut From Baltimore Ravens
Ray Rice’s contract with the Baltimore Ravens was terminated on September 8, the team officially announced on Twitter.
The running back was arrested on Feb. 15 following a domestic violence incident with his then-fiancée. A video was released on September 8 of Ray knocking his wife unconscious inside an elevator in Atlantic City, New Jersey in February. After the brutal attack, which left Janay unconscious, Ray then proceeded to drag her out. You can watch the horrifying video here.
Ray was charged and suspended for two games. He was also fined more than $500,000, according to ESPN.
Ray and Janay married in March, one month after the assault took place. They have one daughter together, Rayven Rice.
Following the release of the shocking video, celebrities reacted strongly to the violent content. Seth Rogen, 32, tweeted, “I don’t know much about football, but I know that Ray Rice is a piece of garbage who shouldn’t be allowed to play it professionally anymore.”
Jamie Lee Curtis, 55, pushed for the NFL to take action against Ray in her tweet. “Roger Goodell shame on you and the NFL. Two games? Really? Two games? Assault is assault. Take an action. Find your mind,” she wrote.
A number of other celebs, including Jay Glazer, Shaun O’Hara and more also spoke out on the incident.
