Tired of the typical glam blowout but not sure how to manage a fancy updo? Do like Amanda and flaunt this fabulous french braid plus pony-tail look. It’s easy and chic, while still maintaining a young and funky vibe.
Amanda Seyfried looked gorgeous on Sept. 6th at the TIFF premiere of her new film, While We’re Young. In our opinion, what really put the va-va-voom in Amanda’s red carpet ensemble, was her cool braided updo by hair stylist Jenny Cho. Luckily, we’ve put together an exact how-to so you don’t have to opt for your usual blowout or bun on your next glamorous night out.
Amanda Seyfried’s Braided Updo — How To
If you’re anything like us, just looking at the 28-year-old While We’re Young actress’ complex TIFF hair-do will initially make your head spin. But thankfully, we’ve done the work for you, and broken down the look so you can easily achieve it yourself.
To start the hairstyle, part your hair on your preferred side and create sections. And remember, when it comes to updos, hair is always easier to work with when it’s a little bit dirty. On dry hair, make a side part and apply Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Weightless Dry Shampoo at the roots, followed by a drop of Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Styling Oil on the ends.
Next, do a low ponytail with the bottom-center portion of your hair so you make sure to keep what’s in there out of the braids. Then do a slightly smaller pony tail directly above the low one — you will use this hair later to create a wrap.
Now go ahead and do your two french braids. Helpful hint: There is no need to fully complete the braids. Just braid as low as the uppermost pony tail, and then secure each side with a rubber-band. If you don’t know how to french braid your hair, don’t worry, easy twisties will work here too.
Once the braids are done, take the uppermost ponytail, and alternating with the braids, wrap the three sections of hair around the lower ponytail to hide the rubber-band, and create the knotted look you see on Amanda.
For the final touch, spray the hair with a lightweight product like Suave’s Touchable Finish Lightweight Hold Aerosol Hairspray. This should tame any flyways, and give you that sleek top just like Amanda.
Voila! You are red-carpet ready! Will you try this look, HollywoodLifers?
