The Swiss tennis hunk secured his place in the US Open semi-finals on Sept. 5 after coming back from being two sets down, to defeat Gaël Monfils. 1. Roger Holds The Record For Being Ranked #1 The Longest
According to Ducksters, Roger holds the record for being ranked #1 for the longest number of weeks in a row, a total of 237!
2. Roger’s Career Took Off In 2004
Roger first went professional in 1998 when he was just 17-years-old. Then in 2003 he won the Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. In 2004, things really took off when he first became the number 1 player in the world!
3. Roger’s Family Life
The Swiss hunk met his wife, Mirka Vavinec in 2000 when the duo were playing for Switzerland in the Sydney Olympic Games. The couple married in April 2009, and Mirka gave birth to identical twin girls, Myla Rose and Charlene Riva in July of that same year. In May 2014, the Federer’s welcomed yet another set of twins, this time two boys named, Leo and Lennart.
4. Early Life & Junior Career
Roger was born in Basel, Switzerland in 1981. According to Bio, by the time the athlete was 11, he was already in the top 3 junior tennis players in Switzerland. Just a few years later, at the age of 14 he was hooked on tennis and was playing two or three tournaments a month.
5. A Vegetarian As A Teenager
When Roger was just 15, he decided to become a complete vegetarian. According to Topyaps, Roger he now will eat anything that will “feed his hungry stomach on whatever food is available.”
