One thing is for sure: Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard are not superstitious. In a new interview, the expectant mom reveals why she felt it was okay to announce her pregnancy to the world before her first trimester had passed.
Jill Duggar, 23, is ready to be a first-time parent with her husband, Derick Dillard, 25. The couple were not afraid to announce their exciting news barely two months after getting married, and now the 19 Kids & Counting stars are revealing why they did not hesitate to share their baby joy.
Jill Duggar Explains Why She Shared Baby News So Early
Yes, another Duggar baby is on the way! Okay, technically it’s a Dillard baby… but still.
Shortly after Jill and Derick confirmed that they were expecting a baby together, everyone realized exactly how soon it was after their wedding that they were pregnant. Most couples usually like to wait until after the three month mark due to the superstition that it is “bad luck” to announce baby news before passing the safety net of the first trimester. But not Jill and Derick!
“Understanding that the majority of miscarriages happen within the first trimester,” Jill told Page Six in an interview. “And believing that every life is precious no matter how young, we decided to share our joyful news as soon as we could.”
In fact, Jill also revealed that she found out she was expecting within her first month of marriage. This must have been very exciting for the couple who waited until they were married to not only share their first kiss, but also lose their virginity to each other.
“We knew that we weren’t going to prevent having children,” Jill explained. “So when we found out we were expecting within our first month of marriage we were thrilled!”
As far as how many children Jill and Derick would like to have? Well, 19 is not completely out of the question. How does she feel about potentially following in the footsteps of her mom, Michelle Duggar?
“Although Derick comes from a family with just one brother, both of us would love to have as many children as God will give us… We are also open to the possibility of adoption.”
Thankfully, their journey to parenthood will be chronicled on the family’s hit television show, 19 Kids!
