’19 Kids & Counting’ Season Premiere: Jill & Derick Plan Their Wedding
Wow, the brand-new season of 19 Kids sure did hit the ground running!
There is a lot of excitement in the Duggar household as Jill and Derick start to plan their wedding. After courting for just four short months, they decide they want to get married in the summer — which means they only have three months to plan the big event.
Jill and Derick decide to work with an event planner to help get things in order, and that’s when they realize they are really in over their heads. Jill confesses they have at least 1,000 people receiving invitations, and she has no idea what colors she wants to use, how to plan engagement photos, or any of that. Yikes!
Thankfully, Jill has a dozen or so siblings — including lots of sisters — to help her out with wedding planning. One person who is particularly excited to help Jill plan her special day? Her younger sister, Jessa.
Jessa is in a courtship with Ben Seewald, and things are getting more and more serious as time goes on. Unfortunately, Ben lives quite a distance away with his family, which means he and Jessa don’t get to spend as much time together as they like.
Thankfully, Jessa’s dad Jim Bob has a solution for that — and you won’t believe what it is!
But before we get to that, Jim Bob has a surprise up his sleeve for Jill and Derick. Since they are going to be married soon and looking to enjoy spending lots of time alone without chaperones for once, he knows they need somewhere to live.
As Jim Bob explains, he purchased a “fixer upper” home a few years back that is finally ready to be lived in. Both he and Michelle think it’s a little too big for Jill and Derick to live in together, but they think it’s a great place for them to start until they can finally get the house sold. How exciting for them!
Michelle Invites The Seewald & Dillard Families Over For Mother’s Day
In order to help unite the three families as one, Michelle invited both Ben and Derick’s families over for a special Mother’s Day gathering.
Michelle loves the idea of expanding her families, so now that Derick is officially joining the family she wants to make sure everyone knows each other and feels comfortable with one another.
Even though Ben is still just courting Jessa, they have been doing so for longer than Jill and Derick were together so it’s important that the Seewald and Duggar family are close as well.
Unfortunately, Derick’s mother, Cathy, was able to make it because she hasn’t been feeling well. She is reportedly battling cancer, and even though she looked healthy during a quick video chat at the Mother’s Day event, Ben expressed his concern about whether or not his mom will be present at his wedding which is just a month away now.
Jessa’s Boyfriend Ben Moves Into The Duggar Home
Yes, that’s right. Ben moved in with the Duggar family!
During the season premiere episode, Ben was joining the family for a Mother’s Day meal when Jim Bob turned to him and suggested that he come live on the Duggar property. They have a guest house out front which is perfect for one person, and Jim Bob also has a ton of projects around the property that he could use a helping hand with.
Ben is ecstatic over the idea, as is Jessa. However, this means Jim Bob and Michelle have to set some strict rules so that the young couple don’t break their courtship rules. So far they’ve stuck to nothing but side-hugs, but being around each other 24/7 now that they are technically living with each other means there is lots of room for temptation — and the Duggars will not allow that in their home!
It was really funny watching the younger siblings talk about Ben moving in, because they were excited for much different reasons than their sister Jessa was. As it turns out, “chaperones” who have to keep an eye on a courting couple in the Duggar family get paid for their services — so the kids are looking forward to making a pretty penny now that Ben will be around so much!
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Is it okay that the Duggars allowed Ben to move in even though he is still courting Jessa? Do you think Jill and Derick will finish planning their wedding in time? Comment on the brand-new episode below!
