While reports are conflicting about her condition, Joan Rivers, 81, is currently in hospital in New York City after she stopped breathing during throat surgery. Her daughter, Melissa Rivers, 46, has rushed to her side in the event that she need to make any life-and-death decisions, a source has revealed to HollywoodLife.com.

“It is very very bad and very touch-and-go right now, but if any decisions have to be made on pulling the plug they will not be made until Melissa get all the facts and is at the hospital,” our source revealed.
“It is a bit of hysteria right now and, to be expected, Melissa is freaking out. The long weekend is going to be very challenging and trying.”
Of course, while any potential decisions about pulling the plug will be made by Melissa, the question is whether they need to be made.
Joan Rivers May Still Be In Critical Condition
Joan was transported to Mount Sinai hospital in NYC in critical condition on the morning of Aug. 28 after she stopped breathing during throat surgery, TMZ reported.
As of 12:30pm ET on Aug. 28, Joan was still in critical condition, as the NYPD revealed to Mashable. However, her E! News colleague Ken Baker tweeted at 1:30pm ET that Joan was in stable condition. As of this writing, there has been no further official word on Joan’s health.
