Kathy Bates Remembers Robin Williams After Big Emmy Win
Kathy was awarded for her role on HBO’s American Horror Story: Coven and she gave an adorable speech. HollywoodLife.com was backstage and that’s when things got really emotional.
Check out what she said below:
Years and years ago when I won my first big award for Misery, a Golden Globe, they didn’t have cell phones in those days. I was waiting at a pay phone to call my Mom and Robin Williams gave me a quarter. I never forgot that kindness years later when I was up for an Oscar. Dame Judi Dench won and at the commercial break he came over and said I really wished I could’ve had your name in the envelope. I didn’t know him well but he was so kind, so this is a special night for that reason, I almost wanted to say look, I wanted to say this time that this is for you, but I was just so nervous and I always admire Jessica Lange because she is always so elegant and calm!
