Julia Louis-Dreyfus On Bryan Cranston Kiss: We Had To Clear It With Our Spouses

It was a “pretty good” kiss, Julia revealed to HollywoodLife.com. “I think he went for it, man. I appreciate that. He goes for it in everything he does!”

She’s not wrong — Bryan took home the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series for Breaking Bad last night — his fifth!

“There was planning that went into it, when Bryan and I were talking on the phone about what we were going to do with our presenting bit… it dawned on me when we were speaking that this would be a nice Part 3 of the joke.” Part 1, of course, being the Emmys spot she did with both Bryan and Aaron Paul where she played herself trying to pawn off one of her Seinfeld Emmys for cash.

“I asked my husband [Brad Hall] if he was OK with [Bryan and I kissing] and he said sure. Bryan checked with his wife [Robin Deardon] and she said sure!”

Bryan has been married to Robin since 1989, and Julia to Brad since 1987! You’d have to be pretty chill to be married to such hilarious people for so many years.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Won Outstanding Lead Actress For ‘Veep’ For The Third Time

Of course, the whole bit hinged on whether Julia would actually win for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Comedy Series for Veep. However, it wasn’t such a long shot considering this was her third time winning for her role as Vice President Selina Meyer.

“I might not have won, it was stiff competition. We worked it in such a way that hopefully the presenting stuff would work on its own if the other stuff didn’t.”

Well, Julia, it definitely worked! The bit was hilarious and — aside from Sarah Silverman bringing pot to the Emmys — it was totally the headline-making moment of the night!
