‘The Brittany Murphy Story’: Watch First Trailer

Brittany Murphy‘s death was one of the most shocking tragedies in Hollywood, and her story is making its way to Lifetime.

The first trailer released is emotional, eerie and explores what really happened to Brittany. Did she die from drugs? Was she poisoned? Or was it really pneumonia?

“Paranoid. Targeted. Afraid for her life.” That’s how the network describes the fallen star, and the biopic covers the suspects, the tragedy and the mystery.

The actress, who died at just 32 years old, is played by Amanda Fuller (Grey’s Anatomy); her mom Sharon Murphy is played by Serilyn Fenn; and her late husband, Simon Monjack who died just five months after her death, is played by Eric Petersen.

The trailer depicts Brittany’s fast rise to fame — there’s even a replicated Clueless scene in there! — followed by her sudden death. Pill bottles, tears and reporters bombarding her home fill the mysterious scenes.

Police said that Brittany died from pneumonia, but her father pushed to re-open the case, insisting that forensic evidence proved that she was poisoned.

The Brittany Murphy Story premieres on September 6 (8/7c) on Lifetime.
