I don’t see anything in the copy that backs up your boastful headline HL.

When Kevin Ward decided to become a pedestrian on a race track, he ultimately took his own life into his own hands. Although my heart goes out to the Ward family for their incredible loss, Tony is not to blame.

Some of these comments are unbelievable…. Tony Stewart is a professional, he know’s what he’s doing.  Unfortunately, Mr. Ward was young and not as experienced, but he was not a kid (young man age 20, not a young kid….he was old enough to follow the rules and know better) got killed….does he not hold any responsibility for his own death, he should, unfortunately.
If you watch the “slow motion” video between 1:03-1:11, you see Mr. Ward jump onto Stewart’s right rear wing, holds on for awhile (getting dragged – still standing) then unfortunately can’t hold on anymore.
When he jumps on, you can see Stewart’s back left tire crumble (putting even Stewart and possibly others behind him in danger) and the car pull to the right (that’s the wobble/fish tail)…again Mr. Ward was on Stewart’s car.
After he let go, is when he hits the dirt and the tire goes over him.
Watch it, you can clearly see it. Stewart probably didn’t see him until the last minute, if even that.
I trust what the other drivers from that night and not, say about how the cars handle and the visibility, wet/slippery track, dirt track, darkness/poor lighting and the other drivers dark clothing…they are the professionals, not me.
This is what they do for a living or sport.
Dirt Track/Sprint is like night and day to NASCAR, totally different, so you can’t compare how the cars drive or even the differences in the tracks.
Personally, I didn’t see Stewart’s car even touch/spin out Mr. Ward’s car…he should have followed the racing rules, Stewart had every right to be in that position, Mr. Ward should have backed off, Stewart may not have even known he was there or that Mr. Ward spun out and had an issue with him.
The main point is, Mr. Ward should NOT have left his car. My prayers go out to the Ward family and his friends, but my prayers also go out to Tony Stewart, he has to live with this for the rest of his life. I don’t care what people say about Stewart’s attitude, he may have been a hot head years ago, maybe even recently, but not to the point of Murder, in front of fans, on an active track…there is a time and place for confrontation after the race.
Maybe, after some time of healing and the shock wears off, Mr. Ward’s family will review the video and see for themselves, that their loved one made a very tragic mistake. RIP Kevin Ward

In my opinion the video you looked at has been photo shopped…I just read another post that said there is a 3rd video out there, and it doesn’t look good for Tony.

The only charge Tony will face is the civil suit.

You’re absurd. Isn’t Tony known for getting out of his vehicle and throwing his helmet at another driver? Looks to me like Tony swerved into the kid in a split second reaction out of anger

Ward should not have gotten out of his vehicle, I don’t care who and how many times other more professional drivers did it (got out of vehicles, threw helmets, etc)…..he should NOT have done it.  And, he most certainly should not have jumped onto Stewart’s car…it was a suicidal move.  I am very familiar with dirt tracks, as my own son races, I understand the dynamics of a sprint car. He made a very, very tragic decision, that ultimately has changed many lives.

You’re absurd if you really believe that he intentionally hit Kevin. You have also just proved that you know absolutely nothing about sprint car racing.

@Alwade…..no where did I say Stewart intentionally hit Ward….you need to read all my posts from the beginning. you are not replying correct to mine. I am in support of Stewart, NOT in support of Ward and his tragic decision. I don’t even feel there should be a civil suit against Stewart, maybe in time Wards parents will see the video and see the truth in what their son did. Stewart should be cleared of all of this. It’s going to take some time, if ever for him to accept what happened and move on with his life, he will never get over it. Again, please read again

@Patti….another thing…. nowhere did I say how they raced. All I said is, “I trust what the other drivers from that night and not, say about how the cars handle and the visibility, wet/slippery track, dirt track, darkness/poor lighting and the other drivers dark clothing…they are the professionals, not me.

From your comments you clearly DON’T! Stick to what you do know. You dont know jack about dirt track racing clearly) is clearly inappropriate…try reading the post from the beginning. Nowhere did I ever say I was or am a professional!!

you people that have no idea about kevin ward jr are relentless. apparently you dont know as much about racing as you think…. I am a race car driver my self and if ward would have let off it takes wing pressure off the car and he would have went for a ride. Tony took him all the way to the berm which was a very dirty move on tonys part. Tony knew kevin would not have made it out of the corner for one and for two we have one way radios and it comes across where the caution is and they said go low go low threw one and two. Where did Tony go, right up towards the top.

That slow motion video is very deceptive. Run the original video and you will discover that this incident from Tony Stewart gunning the throttle and hitting Kevin Ward Jr. and Kevin Ward Jr. being throw from the rear wheel takes barely over one second and well under two seconds.

Human instinct when something is coming at you is to raise your hands and arms what you are seeing is Kevin Ward Jr. in a defensive posture. That slow motion was also done up by an admitted Tony Stewart fan as was another set of stills taken from the original video where another Tony Stewart fan going by the name of kiahuna is saying Kevin Ward Jr. was crouched down like a ninja and dives over the front tire of Tony Stewarts car.

The reality is Tony Stewart attempted to intimidate Kevin Ward Jr. and misjudged and hit Kevin Ward Jr. instead.

Then there is the toxicology report still to come for Tony Stewart. He has a major leg injury that has been reported to have been very pain and slow healing from his sprint car crash last year so it is not beyond the possibility that Tony Stewart may very well still be using pain killers or even hooked on pain killers as happens to so many people.

Kevin Ward Jr. made a mistake that night but Tony Stewart also made a very bad choice when he used his racecar to try and send a message to Kevin Ward Jr. and instead hit him killing him.

Both drivers share fault in this incident.

Tony Stewart should be charged with negligent homicide at the very least under New York state law for his careless actions under the Yellow flag caution the race was at that time under.

Tony Stewart knows full well what he done was wrong and he is now working with his attorneys on how he is going to defend himself.

very well Bandit. Day #21 today and still #14 has offered not one word of defense. Why is it that defending yourself is self incrimination? Of course it’s not if you are not responsible, and it is if you are responsible. Anything else you say could be perjury. Thus he can’t defend himself and thus others step and provide a defense for him, all the while pointing the finger at #13. And of course #14 continues to allow that to happen. That speaks volumes of #14.

Thanks for your post Kathy. I’ve seen many like it who are clearly emotionally invested in #14. It’s impossible not be. I know what my emotions do when i use his name. Today is day #21 and we still do not have a single word from #14 defending himself. Thus he allows somebody like you to make a defense for him. Think about that, you defend #14, but #14 wont defend #14. Does that make any sense. How is offering the defenses you offered going to incriminate him?

I would like to know why the accelerator was hit when Tony approached Kevin? I could clearly hear in both videos the gas pedal being trumped….. was he hitting the gas to get away from Kevin? Im pretty sure the gas was hit before Kevin was……

The throttle is used for steering. He used it to try to avoid hitting him as soon as he saw him. As you can tell – those cars have very little visability all the way around. Throw in the fact they wear full face helmets its even more limited. Dark track. Dark clothing. And someone on the track that wasnt supposed to be there. Tragic all the way around for everyone involved.

thanks for the post, Patti. Why hasn’t #14 told us what you told us? Maybe because his version does not fit with yours, and his version would be self incriminating? Day #21 and still no defense from #14. Also, 21 days and the DA has not dismissed the case. If it was what you say it was, certainly the DA would have dismissed within 24-48 hours to put an end to it. If you focus entirely on the actions after the contact, #14 never acts like somebody who was involved in an accident that he was not responsible for. No, #14 acts like somebody who knows his position is indefensible. Drive away from the scene. Never make an attempt to stop. Never make an attempt to get out of the car and check on your fellow racer. Never say i’m sorry for role in this. Never offer a defense of why it’s not your fault.

Tony the great ,and the whole world KNOWS what really happened. He thought he, (Tony) could give the guy a tap and piss him off further. People also forget tonys nasty temper and all the things he has done to other drivers. He had to go through anger management, and put on meds for his psyco behaviour on the track years ago. You killed someone Tony, a child, you should retire and do something worth while. There is more to life than driving in circles. You could really do something for young men and women with all you have been Blessed with…Because I doubt the authorities are going to step up and do whats right. But YOU can Tony! signed, A fan.

well said Todd. Yes, the unbiased world does KNOW what really happened. Only those who don’t want to believe that #14 was capable of making a mistake, offer up excuses and cover. I had a dental appointment and i asked the receptionist if she had followed the #14 incident. No hesitation, she said #14 just wanted to send #13 a message and miscalculated. Bingo. Thus, today is day #21 and no explanation from #14 to defend himself. That implies that his position is indefensible.

If you’re a fan, I’d hate to see his enemies…Lol. You should look into all the work Tony does for charity and see for yourself that he already is doing things for young men and women. This “child” that was killed was: On a hot track. Wearing black. At night. Grabbing a winged car.

I read an article by someone at the race and both videos have been reviewed obviously in slow mo and kevin literally ran to tonys car and grabbed the wing! Tonys car did not swerve until it was grabbed ALSO STEWARTS car never even touched Kevin’s! I don’t know why that isn’t making headlines.

People get killed on these short tracks ALL the time. The only reason this is so public is because of Stewart. Everyone knows he’s not guilty including Wards family but they are seeing $$ to help ease their grief.

It seems that presently the racing community, both fans and drivers, are divided about whether Tony Stewart committed a criminal act or not. The fact that there is an ongoing investigation also suggests that law enforcement people are looking at this very, very closely. The investigation will take it’s course and the law will take it’s course. Many are saying that Tony Stewart will eventually be in a courtroom because of this, but those same people are not sure about what the charge will be……..
